ROTJ Fett jetpack question(s)

Just started on my MOW Fett ROTJ Jetpack. Using rattle-cans, I've got colors fairly well established, BUT...

1) What's the best color to use for the "rusted" patches on the silver rocket? I certainly varies looking at the hero jetpacks and stunt versions. In some photos, it looks a copper color. In others, a ruddy red or rust brown. And in others, it's almost "pinkish" Any recs?

2) ALSO... how many tines/prongs does the rocket/grappling hook have? The MOW kit has 3 spines or tines, but I've seen other kits and toy replicas with 4. And honestly, I CAN'T EASILY TELL looking at online reference photos. The picture below is one of the 2 hero jetpacks, and it looks like the rocket should have 4 spines.

On my ESB it has four prongs, I've still to weather mine but have used a misting coffee then seal it with a matt lacquer but that's how I roll..

I'd check on Rafs quite extensively detailed info on this thread or maybe contact Ordmantle who certainly knows his stuff​

1. The red varies, but when I've painted ROTJ/SE jetpacks, I went with this: Revving Red

2. 3 hooks on the rocket tip.

Yes! They're larger than MOW or the Fett Pride jetpacks and pretty well made. Heavy though!

First of all, GREAT paint job!

Thanks for the advice. My biggest issue is the weathering. We never get a good look at Fett's ROTJ jetpack in the film; the few BRIEF seconds we see it (not including the damaged one worn by Don Bies in the SE) are on the sail barge, and most of those are the stunt jetpacks. So, some of the weathering, paint chipping and fading I see "now" wasn't there in 1982 while filming. I'm going for a "greatest hits" amalgamation of the ROTJ prop.

Yep, he's wearing the damaged sail barge version with the gaping gash in the back, while still in Jabba's palace flirting with the singers.

Queued up here at 4:30... watch the lower window. That's Bies in the suit, with the damaged jetpack AND the ESB helmet.

In a forever gone post from here maybe 15 years or so, so my memory is a little sketchy, I believe Don said they had limited time from the set to run over to the ranch/archives and get the Fett costume assembled, and drove back to the set to film his scenes.

We’ve seen how these props and costumes were just laying on shelves, some of it on the ground, etc. So he picked up the pieces he needed and brought them over to the set for filming Fetts new scenes. The crazy thing is, there are bits and parts from the ESB suit, the Jedi suit, and even preproduction suits. And for some reason Fett now has 12 ammo pouches instead of the usual eight as well.
