Why is it that the Empire can easily detect "no life forms aboard" on the escape pod, yet they have to set up some big bulky scanner to detect any onboard the Millenium Falcon when it lands on the Death Star?
A ship the size of the Falcon could have shields capable of hiding life signs that the escape pod wouldn't have.

Plus the escape pod is likely one room, whereas the Falcon would have multiple, and as it turned out, hollow floors.

The Finn-Rey romance could have been cut out for many reasons. I don’t know how many Reylo shippers there were on the Star Wars staff but interracial relationships are also very difficult to find on the big screen, especially non-white male and white female.

One example is Will Smith’s Hitch was originally going to have Cameron Diaz as the female lead but the studio recasted to have Eva Mendes. Also another reason you could say that the ST

I still think Abrams deciding to let Poe survive the crash was stupid and ruined Poe’s character development though. Finn being Rey’s love interest wouldn’t resolve his lack of character development. Poe was in the position Finn should have eventually ended up in but because Poe lived and essentially maintained the role of the leader of the rebellion/resistance, Finn is blocked from that role and doesn’t really get to really stand out or make decisions.

Yeah the rewrite of having Rey as half-cyborg is idiotic, nevermind the fact that having robotics should hinder force connection given that Anakin got weaker after becoming robocoped into Vader. I get that TLJ really ruined some lore but spending a lot of your limited time retconning is never a good idea.

Have you seen commercials lately? There are no white couples or black couples, just interracial. No problem with that, it's just the companies are going crazy to show how accepting they are. Just act like a normal decent human. The problem with Hollywood is they try to cram things down your throat to make them "normal" when most people already accept them as normal, then they go overboard, and it just comes off as forced and fake. I don't know why people are making a big deal over this because Rey and Finn having some connection is the LEAST of the problems with these movies!

I watched TFA the other day with a friend who had never fully seen any of the movies and had a great time with it. He had never been hooked by previous attempts to watch the OT. These movies really are reboots disguised as sequels. To people in the know they seem to hang on nostalgia, but to the uninitiated they require no more backstory than the OT does.

That’s not to say I like them more than the OT, they were just made with different intent in a different movie landscape.

I've always felt the ST to be part sequel, part remix, part reboot. I have a friend that pretty much has the same story as your friend.

Oh, dear. I knew this would show up here...

So, while SWT would like you to think that Pablo was mocking him. The truth of the matter seems, as far as I can tell. Is a Twitter user, posted a video of SWT crying, mocking SWT. And Pablo's sarcastic comment was directed towards this Twitter user, and not SWT. But of course, that story doesn't get you clicks, so SWT has once again taken up the mantle of a martyr...

Every time I see a person screaming and crying on camera like a bellend over a trailer or a movie scene I feel the need to take a shower...it's not like I have no emotions or afraid to show them but this "I'll just record myself yelling and sobbing and it's toooootally genuine" show is absolutely ridiculous. I watched a gamer recording a live playthrough of the Witcher 3. I loved seeing her emotions and reactions because they were genuine and heartfelt. Guess what she did all that without making a circus show out of it.
I'll just leave this here as well.

Not that I care about the tweet (primarily because I don't completely disagree with it, considering all the people going out of their way to record their blubbering and other inane reactions, simply to score likes and views), but your interpretation does not seem to align with the explanation given in the article.

The article seemed to also share his apology that didn't appear to mention what you stated. Though if I missed something, I apologize.

My only real mild issue with his tweet was that his position should suggest that he exhibits more self-awareness of what he's sharing publicly.

Surprisingly I’ve never seen that before. I was sold for the first 20 seconds that it was a real reaction lol

The thing I see not getting any mention is that Pablo's Twitter was private at the time all that was going on. Someone (or several someones) who could view his tweets thought it was the right approach, not to talk to Pablo about it directly, and behind that privacy screen, but to start sharing it and commenting publicly about it out it the open. There's a certain attitude I've seen online of, "Well, celebrities should be careful of what they say/tweet," which smacks a bit of, "Well, she shouldn't have been wearing that."

I was always taught that if I had a problem with something someone said or did (that wasn't, y'know, illegal), to take it up with them directly and civilly. To do the opposite -- to complain to everyone but them -- is gossip, at best, or deliberate drama-generating, at worst. Sensationalism gets views. Newsmen knew this a century and a half ago. News media rely on it today, and so do internet content-creators. When you're competing for the fractions of pennies of ad revenue each click represents... Well, we've seen some people do a lot, often skirting the edge of libel, just to stand out slightly above everyone else trying to be heard.

And, as with news articles of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, everyone always remembers the sensational headline. Hardly anyone sees the page three retraction two days later.

That's the court of public opinion for you. It doesn't care for facts, or due process.

I don't think it's a big deal. Pablo said something obnoxious and it's not the first time and I won't lose any sleep over it. Unless human beings suddenly develop some humility this kind of thing won't change any time soon.

What is Pablo's job at Lucasfilm again? I'm not taking a jab at him but genuinely asking. The only thing I remember he did work on is the encyclopedia. Other than that I only ever hear his name mentioned when he gets into it with fans.

TFA was also made 5 years ago and the cultural landscape is very different from today (first being Trump wasn’t president yet). I do agree with you that interracial couples arnt a big deal for most people but Hollywood is very misanthropic in many ways (racist doesn’t begin to cover it). They do go overboard depicting something we see as normal as “revolutionary” because they are essentially that racist uncle that is scolding you for not voting for Obama when he had and you did as well.

I also agree that Finn’s relationship with Rey is the least of the issues with his writing. Finn needed an endgame and it seemed he just didn’t have one. I do think it was originally meant to be Poe because Poe was originally planned to be killed off in TFA until Abrams changed his mind.

He's basically a walking talking Wookiepedia. Currently he's apart of the Story Group.
