The original band and music isn't great but at least it's brief! Boba flirting is just silly but it might have inspired Robot Chicken so...bright side and all that. ;)

Also I think there's a definite non PG glimpse at Oola in the original version. That scene is just so wierd.
Yep!
George takei oh my Memes

I actually dig the music. I like that it's weird. It's not some crazy spectacle that's basically a music video shoehorned into the scene, like Jedi Rocks is (Ugh, even the title is pure cringe  ). It doesn't get in the way of anything else, nor is it overly silly.

You have to go confirm if we get a flash from Oola? Hmph. And you consider yourselves geeks. That's something I've always been surprised about being left in, considering all the unnecessary changes. Then again, I've heard it said that Uncle George had/has an...um, affinity for Twi'leks.

So growing up with the SE. I couldn't remember want Lapti Nek was like. So I just looked it up on YouTube. And yeah there's more Oola. Which jumps out at you in a higher resolution. About the 0:19 mark. That's not in the SE.
But what makes it even more strange is the wardrobe malfunction that Oola suffers before plunging to her doom, wasn't corrected for the SE.......of all the things not to edit out.

Yeah if there's one thing I hate from the SEs it's the Jabba Palace song. They came close with making Vader yell "Nooooo!" when he chucks Palpatine down the shaft though! Both of those sure are more important that adding B-Wings back in and then making more Rebel fighters in the battle (those Mon Cal Cruisers hold a lot of fighters...), which would have made sense. They're attacking a Death Star so surely they would bring every fighter they could spare not just go "We have about 10 fighters and the Falcon, we got this!" Oh and the Death Star would have launched everything after, you know, they already BLEW THE FIRST ONE UP! I know it was probably budget and time originally, but still.

BTW, has Disney censored Oola yet? They already did with Daryl Hannah in Splash.

I dunno if Disney has censored Oola. I don't really care. Whenever we finally show my daughter the OT, it'll be...not Disney, and not the DVDs.

Meanwhile, I've been raising her on a steady diet of the original storybooks, and I bought her a record player so she could play the "book and record" versions of the OT (the, like, 15-min ones), as well as Planet of the Hoojibs, and (although I haven't given this one to her yet) Droid World. I'll have to search ebay for a copy of "The Rebel Mission to Ord Mantell." I also picked up "The Story of Star Wars" on vinyl, and she loves that. Narrated by Roscoe Brown. Great stuff. Gonna get the other two soon, too.

A split second nip slip is a non issue. If I'm ever fortunate enough to have a family all I will ever show my kids is the OT Theatrical cuts.

Thank God for 4k77 and the original trilogy being restored by fans! They are literally preserving film history despite Lucasfilm's best efforts.

Anyone know anything about the scale of this? It says "full-scale" in the item description, but I don't know that I trust that. Either way, I'm getting one for display, and I know it's basically just a toy helmet, just curious as to the accuracy. My wheelhouse is Vader, so I'm not well-versed in any of the finer details of the other costumes. All things considered, it looks good to me.

If only they would release the theatrical versions of the OT,....as it stands,...all films in this BD set all have 2k effects rendering, nothing is completely 4k,.....TPM although shot on film was converted to 2k for effects work back then, original film elements have never been scanned any higher,...AotC & RotS were shot on video at 2K,....ANH, TESB & RotJ, although recently rescanned off film at 4k, has SE elements re-inserted which were rendered at 2k,....Disney doesn't render any effects higher than 2k, due to their heavy workload, so although there may be 4k practical & shots of actors/props/sets, when effects are added the shots are 2k for the ST, R1 & Solo

So really the only beautiful parts are the OT, which looks the best we have ever seen,...although TESB & RotJ are quite dark & flat,...as though they are raw & need a LUT added

Really not worth spending your hard earned cash on, IMO

J

nothing is completely 4k
Correct, 2160p at best. Since that is whats on the discs.

AotC & RotS were shot on video at 2K
Wrong, less than 2K even. Both were the first to be shot entirely with Sony digital cameras at 1080p, not on video.

All the fake HDR stuff should also be mentioned.
