I don't know. JJ did say that the direction that Rian went was very much the same way that JJ and Lawrence were thinking. But we won't know until TROS.

Why are they able? Cause Luke and Anakin are father and son. Rey and Ben are male and female. They can metaphorically come together and become one person. It's the literal joining of the Light and Dark.
So they have to have sex as the finale of the saga? LOL, way to bring it home in a Disney fashion! ;)(y)

Oh that Reylo garbage?

I think I just vomited in my mouth. As horrific as the Anakin Padme love story is in AOTC I might just buy that more than the Reylo fanfic nonsense.

Having them fall in love at the end and get married is the kind of thing a 13 year old girl would write. Just bad, unrealistic fan fiction at its worst.

If the Skywalker saga is to end with TROS. Something has to happen that will bring an end to the conflicts. Or the cycle will just continue for Episodes 10-12. Something must occur to bring finality to the story. And there's nothing better then having the reverse of Anakin and Padmé. Theirs was a love that ended in tragedy. And now we will have a tragedy that ends in love.

I actually miss the love angle from the new movies. Fairy tale needs the love bit IMO no matter how unfashionable it is these days. ANH was not explicit by any means but it had some tension and the Princess and the Boy concept. I was genuinely looking forward to Holdo and Poe having some Han/Leia esque back and forth.

It just sounds amateurish to have them get together in the end when their relationship was based on trying to kill one another the whole trilogy.

I know you could say something similar about Mara Jade, but at least in that story it took years for her and Luke to get together where this would have been in the span of a few months/ a year?

I just don't buy it.

I think Joek3rr might be right about the way this ends. As amateurish as the writing has been so far in the ST fanfilms, it makes sense to close it out on a rediculous amateur concept.
On another note, my wife sent me this at work today:

Yeah, there's a reason we've been together for 25 years! ;) (y)

It wouldn't surprise me if they ended it that way, it would just be lame.

That was their first encounter. By the next film they are experiencing shared visions.(There's some mythological importance about shared visions, but the meaning escapes mthe e) And teaming up together. I mean they even dropped a bit of prophecy on us. Rey says that she saw Ben turn, and Ben says that we saw Rey turn.....that means if Ben is Dark and he turns, and Rey is Light and she turns, that means they'll meet in the middle and there will be....balance.

And besides what would be lame about that ending? Would it be more uplifting to have Ben kill Rey? Or vice versa? What kind of lesson is that teaching the kids? Isn't the better lesson, love forgives and conquers all?
