I'll take bad human artwork over AI art.

AI art is more polished, and utterly soulless. It won't be different when it comes to scripting.

"utterly?"

The AI art is getting scary because I keep seeing these AI chicks on my Twitter feed. The only way you can tell they're AI is the skin has that odd sheen to it that doesn't look right.

We don't need more Kenobi. They've done enough damage to him. Ideally, if they had good writers, they could have an awesome show since so many Prequel actors are involved. With current Lucasfilm no way in hell. I'll just reread the Kenobi novel if I wasn't a decent post ROTS story. It's not the best, but make a heck of a lot more sense for how he would act versus the tv show. It still irks me that he was out of practice with his lightsaber in the show because that's his one job to protect Luke. There's no way Lucas' Obi-Wan wasn't practicing with his lightsaber daily before ANH. You can't have a martial skill (sword, martial art, etc.), not practice often, and be able to use it immediately after 9 years of not practicing. You still have the knowledge, but the muscle memory might be lacking.

With how much attention and likes the Anakin episode got from Ahsoka I could see them doing Clone Wars adventure mini series.

Honestly, trying to make Star Wars "for everyone" was a stupid idea in the first place.

Might have made some sense if Disney was a tiny company trying to expand but Disney was already a huge conglomerate with many different IPs. Rather than water down their product, they should have doubled down the focus of their various IPs to their own niche audiences.

Disney Princesses for young girls with more Disney movies aimed at them (which is what made them successful in the first place. Far more female Disney fans than male imo).

Marvel directed at young boys (honestly did this well in phase 1 and 2 but definately started diverting toward "everyone" in later phases and it shows)

Star Wars could have tapped the still untapped audience of adult audiences which Disney is not great at. They obviously want their money hence why they bother with live action remakes. Instead, they could have "aged up" Star Wars stories to fit an older audience where the good guys dont always win, where morality is not always so black and white." Its probably why Andor goes over so well now (shows the morality of the rebels arnt so clean and a more adult perspective of the Empire) and why the early seasons of Mando also were well recieved.

I think weird skin might come from hasty implementation.

Done right, skin can look pretty good.

AI creeps me out. The images are almost always either nightmare fuel or underage girls.

It's also not art. Art is a human endeavor.

I can understand you being creeped out.

But making AI images isn't entirely devoid of creativity. Sure, any bozo can whip out images with random terms, but there's also a small touch of subtlety in how you can prompt the AI for more nuance.

In order to generate that one image I had to pull in both concrete and abstract references that the AI could extrapolate into lighting, mood, gesture and form. There's also a lot of trial and error in learning how to apply your AI prompts, if you are going for a kind of image. For instance, if I just prompted "pretty girl with an open blouse" I would probably get something more generic or ridiculous. If I am too specific (e.g. "she's looking to the right with her left arm raised. She is standing by a window. It is morning. ...") I might get some weird and horrific images.

But if you can insert abstract terms that describe, say mood or emotion, you can direct the AI to conjure some nice (and surprising) images.

Is AI image prompting art? That depends on how you choose to define it. Once upon a time they said the same thing about CGI.

I used to do illustration and graphic design. I can tell you that generating good AI images is simply a different set of tools requiring a different set of skills.

And Claudine is 24 years old.

What is art and who is a creator of that art?

This has now become a thread with content more suited to the deep, cerebral thinking of Star Trek vs Star Wars.

Someone needs to steer this thread back into the simple arena of space explosions, space wizards, blasters, and laser swords…oh yeah, and Disney sucks.
