Hey, y'all just wanted to let everyone know that Boba Fett is at it again...Sheesh!!

BTW the Acolyte thread is still active and open, it just, for some reason, doesn't show up (for me at least) on its subforum's topics list. I only found out because of this:

Holy hilarity…they really made this? This isn’t some sort of mock-up, or something?

It’s got that distinctively “aimless, corporate white-boarded, derivative, and cheap” Disney Star Wars look about it…

They even gave this poor girl “The Star Trek Discovery Treatment” complete with a severe haircut and devices stuck to her face.

Kind of reminds me of a Womble

I must assume that the purple weirdo with the Sad Dumbo Head must be the male in the group.

Why didn’t Disney just recycle this old Disney Channel costume for that guy…seems fairly spot-on to me…

OK, I’m finished on this topic. You keep reaching for the stars, Disney…

Moving on…

It's overrated. Tarantino has an ear for dialog. No question about it and watching the cast of his movies chew the scenery is always a delight, but the older I get the less appealing his films become on the whole.

IMO 'Pulp Fiction' still holds up pretty well. Seeing it now, the movie's main problem is just its own cultural impact. It's like trying to get a sense of how 'Star Wars' felt to 1977 audiences by watching it now.

IMO Tarantino's other work has been overrated since then (or at least since 'Kill Bill'). I thought even the earlier 'Reservoir Dogs' was unnecessarily rough/harsh. PF was when Tarantino hit the goldilocks point. It was the writing combo of him + Roger Avary.

IMO Tarantino is like a lot of top filmmakers/artists, where his own success has allowed him to do too much of his own thing. He did his best work back when he didn't have as much free reign & resources. When left to himself, he's too in love with his own dialogue & images. The movies lack good intact storylines. He's sort of an opposite version of George Lucas.

He's talented, for sure. I was never into Pulp Fiction, even when I was sort of into Tarantino's work. Aside from some great performances and dialog, his plots just don't grab me, and his sensibilities just aren't appealing. They're unnecessarily violent or crass, and just go off the rails by the end of each one. I respect that he's one of the few directors left who has a style which is uniquely his own, but his movies don't do much for me anymore. Once Upon a Time in Hollywood was a meandering, plotless slog that went insane by the end, as if he remembered he had to come up with some kind of conclusion to it. It was terrible.

I keep waiting for the “modern retelling” of Pulp Fiction that focuses solely on the plight of the ultimate anti-hero to suit the tastes of modern audiences….

The Gimp: The Hero of the 2020’s.

Tell us your tortured tale, Gimp…

Agreed about the plots.

I lost interest once Tarantino threw off the creative chains of serving a decent storyline. If I wanna watch a movie that only works in short chunks, there are plenty of more amusing ones. South Park. Beavis. Mel Brooks stuff. Monty.

IMO it's just creative eccentricity run amok.

People think Stanley Kubrick is a genius and IMO his work had an immature streak too. He seemed to be having way too much fun making the audience uncomfortable just because he could. Sure, it's "unique". Giving Luke Skywalker a sex change would be unique too.

Currently reading many of the old Dark Horse comics. And it's very inconsistent. I suppose they could be adding a sub species one with legs one without. Apparently their portrayal is also inconsistent in the new continuity.
