Day one? Day two?
"The light. It's always been there." It will guide you." "Something inside me has always been there. But now it's awake."

So what exactly is the difference between TFA Rey and TLJ Rey? How has she mastered the Force? In TFA she uses telekinesis, and in TLJ she uses telekinesis. Nothing has changed.

Which is exactly the point. If she's always had this power and nothing has changed, then there is no character growth. Luke may have had the power innately within him, but he had to learn what this power was, how to use it, and most importantly to not use it for selfish purposes and risk falling to the Dark Side. You see the difference? A huge part of the difference between the two is that Rey's story takes place over a matter of days where Luke's journey is over a matter of years which allow time for him to have learned more.

I guess I don't equate growth in power with growth in character. That's why I'm kinda starting to look at Rey with this Heroine's Journey in mind. I found this quote while digging around "The feminine journey is about going down deep into the soul, healing and reclaiming, while the masculine journey is up and out, to spirit.” And I think I'm seeing just that. Rey starts wanting her parents, she can't stop needing them, is how Ben puts it. She even looks to Han as some sort of surrogate father she never had. But by the end of TLJ, I think she's accepted the truth of her parents and has moved on completely. And that's the most interesting part. If Rey has successfully gone deep down, reclaimed and healed her soul from the emotional damage that was caused. Then she's in the perfect place to impart that kind of healing to someone else. Like someone who has a tormented soul who killed their own father as some sort proof of strength.

I got to be completely honest here, a couple of years ago, I wouldn't even have thought about this stuff like this. But having a girlfriend has certainly changed the way I look at things.

Anywho I want to take a break from this. So I've been wanting to ask burning question of everyone. We are all Star Wars fans here. I'd love to know what are some other favorite Sci-fi or fantasy franchises that you guys have?

I don't know about all that. Ill just stick to Star Wars, Empire and Jedi and call it a day. Yeah I'm on board to move the conversation elsewhere.

I like Indiana Jones, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Batman. Oh the list goes on and on. Lol

Star Trek (up until about the time Picard goes into the Nexus, plus the balance of DS9), Transformers (a vast and epic gestalt of what was in the old comics and cartoon -- not any of the current travesties), G.I. Joe (mainly the comics), and Warhammer 40,000 are my biggies. I'm also pretty fond of David Eddings' Sparhawk books, Robotech, the Ender's Game series, the Spenser novels, the Dresden Files, ElfQuest, Girl Genius, Omaha the Cat Dancer, Katmandu, Bone, and a few others. Dfun universes to wallow in. :)

My top favorites in the sci-fi category would be Star Trek (with TNG being my favorite show. Wrath of Khan, Undiscovered County, and First Contact being my favorite films), Stargate SG-1, and the Mass Effect games.

On the fantasy front, I love a rather obscure book series called the Kingdom Series and it's spin off the Knights of Arrethtrae. I also love the corny television miniseries called Dinotopia. Indiana Jones, and The Chronicles of Narnia. But next to Star Wars is love The Lord of the Rings the most, sometimes I love it even more then Star Wars.(if there's any The Lord of the Rings fans out there you to check out the complete recordings for the 3 film scores. They are on Spotify, it's 9 glorious hours of music!)

Has there ever been anything written in regards to Palpatine and his manipulation of Anakin other than what we have seen on screen?

I’ve had a few theories. I think Palpatine was responsible for Anakin’s nightmares. I also believe he was responsible for Shim’s abduction by the sandpeople. I also believe that Palpatine had people like Aurra Sing keeping tabs on him while on Tatooine.

I just feel that a lot of turning Anakin to the dark side was not unfortunate circumstance.

This was in Charles Soule's Vader comic

I got more enjoyment out of this mini reunion than I have from anything I've seen in this new trilogy. What a wonderful dedication ceremony! And the tribute to Peter was truly heartfelt!

Star Wars Galaxy's Edge looks to me like the pinnacle of what they can do with Star Wars as a property. It looks absolutely incredible and their dedication to building a totally immersive world just blows my mind. All I've read about it and seen in photos and videos is just mind boggling.

Wow, wow, wow!

Star Wars Galaxy's Edge has ruined Star Wars amusement parks, the first ride is a total rehash of Star Tours, and now they're destroying the characters we all knew and loved, like R-3X: he would never have become a DJ, that's just lazy writing and no love or knowledge of Star Wars themed parks, Disney just wants the Star Tours fan's money, George Lucas had ideas for a far better park and Bob Iger should be fired. I know there's still another ride due to open later this year but I just don't care anymore, to me Star Tours is the only valid Star Wars amusement park....
;)

brother and sister then. They have a lot of the same physical characteristics. I think episode nine is going to be like a yang kind of thing with the force.

Perhaps...but according to the laws of the “Star Wars Universe”, they cannot be declared to be brother and sister until they have engaged in a wholly inappropriate lip-lock or two.

When you think about it. Star Wars has some weird and questionable content.

MJF, I would love that to be true!! If paps was involved in setting up the sand people capture! Creepy!! I got goosebumps

Anyone remember that X-Files with The Great Mutato where they tent the house and the weird mutated guy puts on Cher and then impregnates the woman? I saw that picture with Shmi and Darth Sidious and that's where my brain went.

I also think that Palpatine did not plan for the Jedi to find Anakin otherwise he would have impregnated a woman within the Republic so it could be identified. I believe his intention was to let him get to a certain age, and then take him probably by some sort of a similar type of manipulation. I think he had to rework his plan when he was brought to the jedi.

I also believe it was the will of the Force that brought the Jedi to find Anakin. I also would have to believe Palpatine's ego would not allow him to believe that Anakin was the chosen one. He probably figured that since Anakin was his idea, he had total control as to the outcome.

Anyhow... just things I think.

Do you think Palpatine did the act physically? Or did it the unnatural way?
