I hope he sits in that hut and does nothing but meditate for 19 years lol
I really want him talking to Qui-Gon. But also working though what just happened. His best friend turned to the dark side, and he left to burn to death. That's going to leave some emotional scarring. I just imagine him every night falling asleep and seeing Anakin yell "I hate you!” I hope they don't hold back.

I mean Yoda literally gives Obi-Wan the homework to study during his exile. If they don’t follow through on that I’d be very confused. And Liam Neeson came back for TCW, I’d imagine he’d have no problem coming back for this.

Yeah I would honestly be shocked if Qui-gon didn't play a role. What a wasted opportunity if he doesn't. Could potentially be a way to bring Mace Windu in too, for fans clamoring to see him again. Maybe Qui-gon taught him the ghost trick too, after the fact...

Obi-Wan using his saber in the cantina in ANH was a last resort. He did try to talk the guy down and even offered to buy him a drink. When he got a blaster pulled on him and saw his protege thrown across the room, it was self defense. You know, restraint, discretion. Being the last to strike in a fight. It makes the Jedi cool when they actually show some control over a situation and try their best to resolve conflicts through means other than overt combat, even if it's as simple as trying to talk to someone calmly. If need be they'll fight, but it's only when absolutely necessary.

AOTC tried to clumsily repeat this but since the Jedi in the PT whip out the sabers at every opportunity, it wasn't anything special seeing him cut off that assassin's arm. I would be shocked if they actually didn't have him using his saber every chance he can in this show. If they exhibit restraint, I'd be happily surprised. It would be nice to see Obi-Wan and Jedi in general not treated as some emotionless, uncaring cult that abducts children and tells them not to have feelings. It would also be nice to see them become noble again. You know, fighting for or participating in causes that are worthy of praise and not wallowing in self pity.

It would also be really nice to have them portrayed as introspective, not emotionless. There's a huge difference. One is intelligent. The other is cold and unsympathetic.

I don't know the show needs to be doing that. In ANH Obi-Wan whips out his lightsaber in the Cantina without any thought of it.

It was also an indicator that he was done with his hiding. After he neutralized Luke's assailants, he stood there for a moment with his lightsaber up, looking around, almost to make sure everyone saw. A very Gandalf moment -- being an inspiration to ignite the spark. "A Jedi! The Jedi are back!" Ripples on a pond.

In the cantina, that was supposed to be his "I'm done hiding." moment. That's why not only does he use his lightsaber, he keeps it ignited and stares everyone down. This show is, what, like 15 years before ANH? That's a long time to be running around leaving lightsaber evidence all over Tatooine. The local "government" might not be as smart as Coruscant police, but even they would figure that out.

I agree. If he only uses the lightsaber just to repel blaster bolts and doesn't cut or stab anyone with it may not be obvious. But then others will still see it. Even if he uses the force subtly he has to make sure that no one notices and alerts the empire. It's going to be interesting to see how they handle this.

I think all of our original feelings and ideas will be thrown out the window

Seems like they aren’t giving the OT the respect it deserves anymore when it comes to respecting the story line

I'm going with Tatooine Lightsaber Free For All. I don't think Disney can help itself. There are rumors he fights the Grand Inquisitor at some point. If that ever happened, Vader would instantly show up, hating Tatooine or not. I think Ewan McGregor nailed it as Obi-Wan, so I don't fault him and I think he will kill the role again. I just have very little faith in Disney.

I don’t want you to be right, but I think you’re right

A prop or character can be detly woven into the story and subsequently those two can be used for marketing, but there's no reason why they have to be overused/ underused. The problem is I don't feel these writers have much restraint and if we've learned anything from the PT is that more lightsaber fights don't guarantee a better story. They are easily THE coolest fictional weapon ever created, but nostalgia baiting and flashy gimmicks are no match for good writing on your side kid...

Same, exact same thing about the prequels.

I do think it is part Obi Wan choosing not to hide himself any longer but Star Wars has been quite inconsistent in regard to how well the jedi are known imo.

In OT, we have Han Solo talking about how the Force is BS (which could be chalked up to him being a nerf herder), but we also have top officials in the Empire also thinking the force is mystical voodoo with Vader right in front of them. I think in OT, jedi were supposed to be some secluded warrior sect working behind the scenes and are more myth than an established organization which could be why Obi Wan felt it was ok to reveal his lightsaber. Lightsabers were also initially going to be standard equipment with even stormtroopers using them (that would have been a bad idea imo).

Btw, is this another baseless rumor? Apparently Daisy Ridley may be returning to play Rey again and Disney is working on another trilogy. Hopefully they can actually plan it out first if they go that route.

Also honestly dont see how a Rey Skywalker trilogy would work given that she is already insanely powerful and any legitimate threats are already supposedly dead.
