If you are like me and you like SW stuff as background noise while working on projects or whatever, this is a great one! Kevin and Mark doing commentary to Empire Strikes Back. F-ing hilarious!!

You sort of answered your own question but don’t really understand it. Obi or Yoda probably did tell Luke but at that point Luke didn’t care. He didn’t think he was out of harms way when he tossed his saber, he was making a statement. The same way the good guy in a western or a crime drama drops his weapon because the bad guy is trying to get them to do their bidding even though the bad guy still has theirs weapon.

Yoda not explaining the Force lightning to Luke is not a quibble I have with ROTJ. I was merely addressing my perspective on the subject with regards to the minor continuity issue and I agree with your statement on it. Though I'm not sure what you're referring to when you say I don't understand the question. I think we're both on the same page here.

But I don’t understand why you think no one ever told Luke about force lightning.

Yeah there are bigger issues I have with the continuity between trilogies than this one. So that's why my original post made light of this particular subject. Thus my stupid meme.

So, you are saying it took six months for the Falcon to reach Cloud City?

And they are still wearing the same clothes?......

Yes. Hoth and Bespin are nearby systems but with sub light engines, it’s going to take a while.

Han and Chewie live on the ship, I am sure there is some type of laundry refresher unit they can use sanitize their clothing.

Realistically that would be millions of lightyears.

Systems in Star Wars don’t refer to solar systems but to planetary systems. Like Yavin and it’s moons would be a system and Endor and it’s moon would be a system. Hoth is just two mapped planets away from Bespin.

But that aspect was never meant to be a surprise. Just like no one was surprised that Anakin turned to the dark side and became Vader. It like going to a Superman movie and being upset that you knew Clark Kent was really Superman from the start of the movie. The story is about how those things came to be.

A twist would have been if Palpatine and Sidious were two separate people.

That's precisely why I put quotes on the word "twist".

Sorry if this seems like a "no duh" thought. But over the last year I have come to a new concept of understanding about the species of those like Yoda, Yaddle, and the child.

I was always of the belief that this species although listed as unknown to us fans, however it was something known by others in the SWU. It was just a trivial thing that Lucas kept us in the dark about just to keep Yoda mysterious to the viewer. But now with the Mandalorian and the child, that switch in my mind has been flipped that I now believe that the species is a secret even to everyone else. Maybe even secret that is not even listed or known in the Jedi archives or to the highest council members.

I also have to wonder...
...is their home planet unknown to all outside of the species
...if this species is so unique that all beings are strong with the force.
...that only a small number exist at one time, or that the very few are chosen to leave the home planet.

I wonder if Filoni would do something like make their species a physical manifestation of the Whills. Maybe every so often one of them is born and that’s why there are so few.

I know that has been a long held belief in the fan community for a long time but I seem to recall Lucas himself has denied it. I would find it hard to believe that David or Jon to go against that idea.

That’s why I was thinking they might twist it a little bit, the Whills would still be ethereal beings but certain times they create an avatar for lack of a better term. It still respects George’s intent but also actually gets them into the story.
