Should have clarified. My bad. How many years after Endor? Just wondering if Crix is meant to have aged by then, hence the beard?

I’m reading Aftermath right now, and boy is this a messy book for being canon. Multiple instances of mistaken alien species (an Abednedo gets called a Rodian twice in the authors own descriptions) and I’m pretty sure he thinks Madine is Dodonna because he describes the former as having a “prodigious white beard” and deep lines in his face.

I read the first one or two chapters they posted before it was released and it was obvious the guy didn't have a grasp of the SW universe. Then the guy acts like an a-hole to fans when they said how bad it was. That's why I laughed after the EU was wiped and they said now all the SW books would be great because they have a story group (which they already had since the late 90s).

The “hot chocolate” thing in Heir to the Empire always stuck out to me as being anachronistic, but that’s nothing compared to the things he does with this book. It’s very clear to me now that the American South, Grimm fairytales, and all kinds of Earth animals exist in the SW universe thanks to Aftermath lol

Yeah the negative attitude towards fans seems to be a common theme for lots of people at Lucasfilm the last few years but it's just a means to deflect any type of criticism.

I've never had a Twitter account and never will. I do have a FB account but I rarely post. I only really keep it to stay in touch with some long distance friends and family and prop/ costume groups. Though I really need to get e-mails or other ways to contact people and be rid of it too. It's just a toxic wasteland.

I too spend most of my internet time here. It's easily one of my favorite places to hang out online.

I'm against cancel culture because a mob mentality is never good. I agree with you that if his firing was performance based because he wrote terrible books then so be it.

Though I have to say, it's one thing to privately grumble about awful customers, it's another thing entirely to announce it to the world via the internet. If anything it exposes a lack of professionalism. Which is why Twitter and just about all social media is such an awful platform for people to feed their egos.

Maybe, though i'm not sure why that relates to Chuck Wendig, as his were tweets relating to politics etc, and nothing to do with "awful customers".

Social media like here and others, all have their pros and cons, but that's a whole another subject in and of itself.

Perhaps it doesn't relate directly to Wendig, but it's clear some in Lucasfilm have used twitter to disparage fans. Overall twitter is just stupid and a means to help end your career in one hashtag.

Twitter is one of the worst things invented by humans. I honestly don't understand the appeal.
I used to see it that way too.

I also gladly deleted my Twitter and FB accounts. A full delete of my FB account actually felt awesome.

Social media is just another example of why we can't have nice things, and why people in general need to be governed.

With everything being so volatile these days, I've learned to appreciate socials like Twitter as one of the best tools to flag haters and bullies. When discussing in person, most are okay with differences of opinion. There's always something to learn from that, if you're open-minded. It's those remotely sitting behind their devices, with the ability to block any confrontation with a simple click instead of embracing the challenges of a civilized discussion, who have fallen in lust with that ability, and have been abusing it ever since. Once you get passed the obnoxiousness and entitlements, and realize that these individuals are but a tiny portion of society, then in a silly way it becomes somewhat entertaining when you come across one of these extreme tweets. Once corporations start recognizing their actual significance and stop obeying to their demands, then we'll begin to see real growth.

But this [current] mob mentality, and voluntary anger, and the Cancel Culture it promotes, is a next-gen cyclical trend that will eventually dissolve itself. And various consequences have already taken effect. Get Woke, Go Broke has demonstrated a very real monetary effect, and is having a significantly negative impact on its most outspoken corporate supporters. Being in California we've seen this first hand. From pro sports to media to big brands. Although it's not one that has been most impacted, Star Wars is one of them.

The overall sentiment toward the more recent projects such as TLJ and TROS has been Neutral at best. Recent characters developed with a woke component like L3-37 from SOLO and Vice Admiral Holdo from TLJ have tracked overwhelmingly Negative in market research. I know people who've enjoyed those movies and those characters, but have admitted that their political undertones should have been omitted.

My belief is that this was a direct result of an internal consensus to pander to the loud. Imposed by D|LFL creatives who are members of that same small loud crowd. Focusing on misguided priorities, poorly conveying views that aren't easily compatible with the increasingly difficult task of entertaining paying fans.

I think D|LFL might be in the process of re-focusing their efforts and steer the ship back to a more traditional course. And with D being slow to react (it is a big, bloated corporate machine), maybe the ripple effect of that re-focus hasn't reached the Community Managers yet.

Let's see what the next few years will bring.

I thought she was great and do not understand the negativity towards her. But then again I don’t understand most fan negativity toward characters.
I've been through a lot of in-production and post-release focus groups and surveys. In general they provide good approximations of what's asked of them, but sometimes you get surprises.

My only problem with L3 is that we didn’t have more of her. I thought she was great and do not understand the negativity towards her. But then again I don’t understand most fan negativity toward characters.

I didn't have any problem with the droid, it's just that she wasn't that memorable. After watching Rogue One, I instantly liked K2SO even though the writers totally ripped off HK47's whole persona, minus wanting to kill every human. Heck, I don't like the Sequels at all, but BB-8 was at least likeable after seeing TFA the first, well only, time.

L3 was really grating if she was meant to be taken seriously. Mainly because her only character trait was "equal rights for machines." If she was meant to be a commentary and a goof on the whole PC movement and radical __________-ism, then she's still a lame character, but at least they're making her miserable on purpose.
My bigger problem was that Lando never mentioned her in TRoS. Just a quick "Okay L3, let's find Exogol" or "Good to see you again," or something when Lando's flying the Falcon would have been a great callback. I've always said that they could have tied the whole Saga together a LOT more with little touches like that. I feel like Disney should have had a big Star Wars geek look at the scripts and think of ways to make them more Star Warsy, to tie the Galaxy together better.
