Large scale Millennium Falcon Kit ID's**New Maps at start of thread**

Stu, been meaning to say I'm glad you reconsidered, mate, I really am. It's a scary commitment but like I said a while back, you just have to abandon fears and regrets. :D

Imperious, thanks; we were thinking Nichimo U-boat for that one though I think?

I've just landed a big box of assorted Bandai 1/48 including a fair bit on spec, not yet in our lists. I am hoping to get it scanned over the next couple of weeks so if anyone has their IDing hat on they'll be able to have a go. I'll be back on the job before too long, just having a short holiday.

Thanks Martyn, I really don't know why I had that panic attack mate, for better words. I'm almost tempted to start now, with a few subassemblies just to kick it off, but the big X-Wing is coming first.:behave

I know Iv'e said quite a few times before about posting updated pics of the X-Wing, but Iv'e had a massive push on her of late & will post an update in the next couple of weeks. I plan to start skinning the upper fuselage this weekend in styrene, so I'll take a mass of progress pics, along with the others Iv'e taken.:rolleyes

Back to the Falcon talk, be really keen to see the Bandai scans Martyn, could be some new parts coming our way hopefully.

Oh, I scored a second 1/24th Panther G, partially assembled, but complete & mostly unpainted for $45 NZD here in NZ. Should be here next week. Even got the box too.:love
Stu

I look forward to seeing that X-wing come along, Stu. A huge X-wing and a huge Falcon would make a pretty intimidating display together!

I recently reread this entire thread... so much info to keep organized, but that's awesome! I have enough kits now that I can start throwing some glue around. I'm making the three cast plates that share the same kits.

Imperious, yup, per Martyn you'll need 2 U-boats to cover the dish. Watch out for the rails that have different spacing.

Craig

Cheers Craig, I'm on the X-Wing with a vengence now, although the fuselage is really a *^%$# to do, I knew it would be:lol.

Here's a few more ID's from the Panther & Ferrari. Apologies if these have been found before by anyone.
Pic -4 shows one half of the Ferrari tranny part, the other half is on the other side.
Stu

Here's some more ID's. I really have to apologise for my crappy pics with my scribbles, I'm not up to par with some of you & the wonderful parts maps you do:cry.

The Hanomag part is now not present on the port side, one of the 'missing parts'. I'm sure it was there originally as there is an unpainted area present where it would have been.

Just found this part from the Tamiya Field Gun, I knew this part looked familiar.
It gets scary when you start going to the exact kit & finding the part you knew you'd seen somewhere before. That's when you know youv'e got this SS thing bad!.

Also came across this part from the Bandai Jagdpanther. Starboard side has the same part.

Hey, where is everybody?. Don't you leave me alone on this you nutters!.

Picked up another 5 kits this month, so the parts bags will be looking fuller:lol.

Hey Martyn, did you get to open that stash from the post office yet, any new ID's mate?.

Stu

I'm still here. I've been trying to pick up kits I don't have here and there, like the International Payhauler that just arrived. Those tiny Sealab railings are testing my meager casting skill. They are a ***** to cast. :lol

Craig

Hi Stu,

Don't worry, we are still here. I've just had a lot on at work and and concentrating on getting my workshop/studio room ready so I can get my tools and kits out of storage. Think Martyn is re-grouping and will re-appear soon too! :)

I'll be getting back on the maps in the next couple of weeks. Trying to get enough images of other areas that I can do as larger montages. Also trying to score a few other kits.

Looking good Craig, you look like you're well off the starting blocks!

Nick

Well, that's a relief.:lol

The amalgamated parts maps would be very welcome, there's just sooo much info all over the place now in the thread. I'm very grateful to you guys that do these maps, I'm clueless to how you do them, many thanks.

Craig, nice job on the sealab parts mate, can't be easy casting those ladder parts.

Stu

I agree about all the info we have amassed. That's why I thoughts I'd better start putting maps at the beginning.

In fact I was also thinking I should start a separate thread dealing with just MF dimensions. That is a subject in itself and having all those exchanges mixed in with kit ID posts is already making it hard to find info in this thread.

What do people think? -shall we extract the agreed info from this thread regarding dimensions and start a new 'MF Blueprint' thread?

Overall I'm still amazed at the amount of progress we have made since this thread started. The big Falcon is a beast of a subject and you guys have just dug in and shown it no mercy! :)

A MF 'blueprint thread' sounds just the ticket mate. Keeping it separate would really work, it's worthy of a another thread.

As more of us build certain areas of the ship & place donor parts for sizing, dimensions become apparent & the sharing of these will help all concerned.

Yes, it is staggering the ID's that have gone on here, Id only dreamed of knowing what some of the parts always were. My hat is tipped to all concerned.

Well, been moving house again this week & the upcoming weekend, so everythings all packed for a week at least:cry. Still, the new house is amazing & I still got a dedicated mancave:D:D:D.

Hey Stu,

Meant to ask, that 1/24 panther G part you have noted, second pic in from the left. I can't see that on the sprue scans. Can you show which part it is? - I probably can't see for looking....

Cheers Craig, I'm on the X-Wing with a vengence now, although the fuselage is really a *^%$# to do, I knew it would be:lol.

It's on sprue H, Nick.

Blueprints sound like a great idea. I think if anything, a method needs to be worked out. For example, I started looking at the docking rings. Then the Tiger and Matilda plates will help me work out the waist. Then I'll work the mandibles and inwards along the docking arms to the gun turrets. I'm modeling it in Maya as well, to exact scale, trying to eliminate the guesswork as much as I can.

Craig

I've been looking at 1/25 AMT trucks lately, too. The 4070A is on its way. I think there's a larger scale kit we're missing.

Sorry to say the Payhauler is not used on MF013, as far as I can tell.

Thanks for the tip re the Panther G part. That piece isn't shown from the top in the scan pic.

Also, noticed these little guys on your recent progress pic. Don't think I've got a note of these?

Fujimi Iowa/Jersey/Missouri and Hasegawa Sherman. Those plates share a group of kits but there are still a couple we need.
