Large scale Millennium Falcon Kit ID's**New Maps at start of thread**

Good find. ;) That's one of the kits I still need to get.

What do you guys think about inverse part maps at this point... i.e. highlighting by section the parts we don't have identified?

I agree, we could definately use some maps to ID parts that still elude us, good idea mate.

Hi Craig,

Yup, I'd agree with that. If everyone chips in with annotated pics of what they have as an unknown then I can easily absorb them back onto the partsmaps as and when they get ID'd.

My current bugbear are those 4 half cylinders at the back of the gunport. Thought they may be ship funnels but no joy so far.

PS: Good find on the duster Stu :)

Hmm, I don't think they are unfortunately. Those stubs coming off two of them look like they are integral, which indicate they all form two cylinder units which then uses their stubs to attach to something else?. Still think a ship funnel is the best bet though. Maybe some other big passenger liner?

Nick, I have those noted as possibly Airfix Mauretania? I have not confirmed that however.

Craig

I don't think they are from the Mauritania either, had a look at some scans & they just don't match. I feel they could be more 'military' in appearance.:confused

Here's a few more finds from the 312b & Quad Gun tractor with 25pdr field gun in the 1st & 2nd pic.
Pics 3-5 show parts from the M23 & Tamiya 1/35th Panzer 111 ausf M/N to make up most of this assembly.
The Ferrari part is also found numerous times on the engine deck too & make up some of the 'missing' parts list.

Hey chaps, been studying this 'starboard saucer underneath pit' & finding a few more parts, does anyone know what donor the main louvred area to the left comes from?. It's obviously American/British armor, but which/what & scale?.:confused
I'm sure there's more M23 in there too, but brain drain has got the better of me & I just can't see through the haze no more:lol
Stu

Cheers Craig, & thanks Rod for ID'ing the part. I must have missed that ID amid all the info here.:facepalm

Nice going Stu. :)

Yeah, there's so much stuff throughout this thread now its hard to keep track.
I'm just trying to pull together some big new montage maps, including some of the underside. Sorry for lack of input lately, just really hard to get the time at the moment.

No pressure Nick, get to the maps when you have the time mate, we all suffer from a lack of that commodity:lol.

Now, been looking hard & long at the Semovente gun parts on the top turret. I'm now certain they are not from the Tamiya kit!. Some of the detail on these parts just doesn't match up to the ref I have.
So which kit do they come from. Well, I'm picking the Italeri vintage version from the early seventies. I'm trying to track one down to be sure, but also, I believe Revell reissued the kit using the straight Italeri molds.
This begs the question, are the docking ring & engine deck parts also from the Italeri kit?.
Makes sense they could have used the Italeri kit, as the Elefant was used too from this era.
Oh, the current Italeri kit is a new tool, so no good there chaps.

Hi there guys!
Nice work fellas.
Stu mate, don't forget both Kettenkrad parts marked in yellow on the pic bellow and the International Payhowler 350 chassis!

I'll have to take a look to that Italeri-Revell Semovente, I also thought there was something odd but I haven't got a good shot of the turret with the Semovente gun still attached to it.

cool.

I'm working on a big new map for the underside. Will post up in next week or so.

Cheers

Thanks for those maps Rod, a few parts there I hadn't found, cool!:)

I tracked down a vintage Italeri Semovente & it's on the way, so we'll see if it's the right donor chaps:confused. I don't think the name 'Semovente' is even mentioned in the kit name, just a long line of letters/numbers.

Hi,

Hope everyone is ok out there?

On the first page of the thread I've managed to post up a couple of updated maps for MF026 & MF024 and also added a new underside map MF027 which I've taken a slightly different approach with to try and minimise the number of individual maps we rack up.

Cheers
Nick

Lookd good Rod. Once I set up the new thread, maybe you could 'ride point' on the blueprint updates and I'll contiune to do the part maps?

I've just added a couple more minor updates, and re-done MR024 again as I'd missed some recent ID's

Cheers
Nick

Nick,
MF015 part 15 isn't the Harrow, but another train kit I think. The closest I've found is the Hasegawa Thor, but we know that wasn't used until Empire.

And ?B Is the Nichimo King Tiger Henschel variant.

I've got a couple more ID's coming including a new kit. Just waiting on the mailman to confirm them in person. :)

Craig

Hi Craig, I do not know were the notion that the Hasegawa Morser Karl kit was not used in Star Wars ( ANH ) came from, But I found some time ago a circular shaft on the rear landing gear that belongs to this kit.
Being this part found on one of the black and white pics it might be said that this Hasegawa kits were on the ILM stash on the late 70's, here is the pic:

The sprue pic is on the wrong side but I am certain it is that kit part.

I have noticed that the color session of pics like the ones used on the AMT Falcon kit box or the ones on the Chronicles book seem to had been taken before the B&W because in the later there are kit parts missing that can be seen on the color pics.
It might well be that that wheel belongs to the Morser Karl or Leopold kit. I must take a look
to my Morser.

Hey Rod, I'd also wondered about that part from the Karl too, but never checked to see if it's right. Well, I just dug it out & placed it on the Panther part & also checked my ref & I'm positive it's from this kit. It is a match IMO.

I don't know either with the notion this kit wasn't around in the ANH era. I can't confirm for certain either way. The only thing I can think of was the B/W photos were taken quite a while after ANH, but before 'Empire'. The Karl part could have been added during this period & not being an 'original part. This would explain a few of the other missing parts that show up in these 'early' B/W photo's, such as one possibly from the 312b on the starboard side mandible wall.
IMO, the Falcon got pretty beat up in storage between ANH & Empire so new parts were added & somewhere during this period the B/W were taken.
