Harry Potter replicas/collectables - Rare, promotional, and otherwise

Re: Rare Harry Potter replicas

I'm still plugging away at the list, compiling, organizing and searching. I have several different categories including promo items and Japanese exclusives. I was very lucky and did get a bunch of the Japanese exclusives ordered the other day with the help of a friend. Some items I got were the last ones they had, but others I was able to get multiples of so I may offer them for anyone interested.

Re: Rare Harry Potter replicas

Hi BlackMarketMagi,
Depending on what the items are and the price (unfortunately a factor at the moment), I would definitely be interested :)

Re: Rare Harry Potter replicas

I also have an Elder Wand from Japan from the days of Prisoner of Azkaban.
I think I have two of the Japanese wands. I got the Dumbledore wand from Noble, but it was before the last book came out (it was just "Dumbledore's wand"), so I was pleasantly surprised to learn, as I read it, that I already owned what would eventually become a major prop in the last film. :)

Re: Rare Harry Potter replicas

Yeah there are Japanese versions of a lot of the different wands. There are so many wands and variations I don't know if I'll include them here. I may make a different list just for them.

Should I move the list to the front of the thread?

Do you know anything about this series of wands?

My understanding it was given out for the first movie, but I could be wrong.

As far as I know, the Japanese wands aren't really "rare".. I certainly never had any problems finding them. I assume that they're no longer in production, what with the Noble license and all, but they were made in large numbers while they were.

And yes, I'd say put the list at the beginning.. make it easier for new readers to find, and it's just as easy to keep updated.

Re: Rare Harry Potter replicas

Yeah, I agree with you Jedi2016, I don't really think the wands are that rare, they are just slightly different. They also still sell them and presumably make them. If I made a list it would just be for reference, not rarity.

Djpk19 I'll look thru what I have and see if I can find out.

I also copied the list to the front.

Re: Rare Harry Potter replicas

I thought that wand was more rare because it was wood and numbered. But I guess I wasn't searching too much online.

Re: Rare Harry Potter replicas

Sorry Djpk19 I was talking about the Japanese wands not yours, your wand could be rare if it was a premiere giveaway, promo item or prize. Like I said, I'll look to see what I can find for you.

Re: Rare Harry Potter replicas

Sorry, I was confused. I remember getting into this when Potter wasn't that huge, I remember having a chance to bid on a wizard portrait used in the first film that was on ebay but I declined. I think they had wanted $500 for it at the time.

Re: Rare Harry Potter replicas

Ok Djpk19, Here's what I found for the wand they gave away for the Stone movie premiere, it looks entirely different and has Harry Potter on the handle. Here's the pic...

So I'd say it wasn't the first movie one but if I see it I'll let you know.

Re: Rare Harry Potter replicas

What about the promotional Golden Eggs from GOF? I think they had the name of dragons on them. Someone showed me they had collected all of them (given 1 per preson as a prize or something...) don't see them on your list. I'll have to see if I can find a photo.

Re: Rare Harry Potter replicas

I have the GOF Golden Egg dragon promos in my file just hadn't added it yet but will do so now also added a few more items. Thanks.

These are what you are talking about I believe.

Thanks for the research. I do remember seeing that one around, because the boxes were a bit plain. I am not a huge collector but the few things I do have are quite nice. I love my Dumbledore pocket watch.

In my basement I have a double sided poster from the first movie, still in the tube. I never did anything with it.

Re: Rare Harry Potter replicas

Really cool, I'd be really interested in a Honeydukes bag; I recall hearing about them being sold in Japan? Were you able to find one?

Re: Rare Harry Potter replicas

I have the small 4 bag set which has Ollivanders, Weasley, Zonko's and Quidditch Supplies. They are really nice, the trademark is in very small print and located on the bottom of the bag so you never see it. Noble should have taken a clue from them.

They also make 2 larger bags with handles one of Honeydukes the other is Zonko's. My friend is going back in a few weeks so I may be able to get the other ones.

Re: Rare Harry Potter replicas

Are you considering stuff not from the U.S. rare? For example, the Diagon Alley store bag collection. It's only about $7 in Japan (500 yen), but if you look for it on ebay it's expensive -- but, it's not really rare. Same goes for the individual chess set pieces: Rare in the U.S. but not in Europe.
