BTTF Futaba Delorean Remote Project

Gary's chanting pepsi, pepsi, diet pepsi, diet pepsi, slice, slice.... ad nauseum :)

I'm busting my butt trying to get the run of Pepsi Perfects out the door and then I'm going to hop onto the Futaba project. It's been nuts these last couple of weeks on the home-front, so hobby stuff has had to take a side burner as well.

I promise, I'm trying to get there.

Very interesting thread!! The RPF never ceases to amaze me with the talent and skill of the members!!! :thumbsup

There's a green label FP-T8SGH-P listed on eBay now.

I can't believe how much that 'H' unit sold for.....!! So what kind or price range does that put the green 'A' units at??

So I guess the ideal remote would not only have all the accurate attachments and labels, but the sound for when the counter is first switched on, then the sound when the Stop switch is flipped, and the sound with the counter increasing, and also the counter wired to start when the right joystick is pushed up... Did I miss anything?

Anyone seen this:

The FP-T8SGH-P is less accurate than a FP-T8SGA-P with red label in my opinion. The last one is the exact same remote but with a the PCM label in another color, the first one is inaccurate in the switches on top. I'd much rather have a red FP-T8SGA-P than a green FP-T8SGH-P. Unfortunately, both of them are not that easy to come by these days...

I can't wait to see how everyone gets on with these remotes! I am still trying to source a few more of these out for members here.

Gary, you already know I am down for the number 2 package too! :)

Daniel, looking forward to the green labels!!

Cheers,

Andy

Got my hands on a green Futaba FP-T8SGA-P!!! Woehoe!!! Now waiting for the kit to come out to transform it into a doc's remote!

Congrats, Egon. The accurate Futaba's (Green labeled FP-T8SGA-P) are very hard to come buy...

Received my red Futaba today. I used the Red remote to fix a few minor things on the Green remote:

1. The plastic part where the antenna comes out, was slightly damaged on the green remote.
2. One screw on the back plate was missing on the green remote.

Both things have been fixed with the parts of the red remote, leaving the red remote with these flaws. No just finidng someone who wants to take over the red remote again... There both nice remotes, but one is enough for me ;-).

Has anyone considered making casts of the remote since it seems very hard and expensive to find real Futabas?

It's pretty detailed, you'd probably have to remove a lot of bits to be able to cast it. I'll bring mine to the prop party and you can have a look. If there's interest I'd be willing to give it a go.

Casting a remote would be a solution for people who are not willing to spend a lot on a remote, but indeed, it won't be as detailed and "real" looking. Also the led display and power indicator display on top will be difficult to integrate, I think. Antenna's ad switches can still be found for these remotes, but if you start adding all the costs, I think a "normal" remote is still the best option. Anyway, I'd be interested to see what comes up if someone is giving it a try. There are people on the forum that amaze me every day again ;-).
