BTTF Futaba Delorean Remote Project

I want to assure you all that I am NOT sitting on a gold mine. Instead, my plan is to do the exact opposite. I was speaking with Tom Silknitter the other day about it since we've been trying to make this happen for YEARS now.

We've got a few ideas, but it's going to take some planning and time. I think we're gonna be able to help everyone - no matter your budget or skillsets.

FYI,

I just wanted to give an update on my involvement in the Futaba project.

Due to recent unforseen events, I will no longer be able to participate as much as I wanted to.

I have the current mold and mold master for the Stanley displays and will be willing to wrok something out with whoever has the ability to take on that part of the project. This would included a small number of extra circuit boards, molexes and other greeblies - nowhere near a complete "kit".

I'm sorry about this sad turn of events. I truly wish I could do more, but I have no real choice in the matter.

Sincerely,
Gary Weaver II

Thanks man, I appreciate it. I'd like to ask that no one PM any further about this stuff. I'm going to work with a couple members to see what can be done and either they or I will let the board know soon what the new plan is.

Sorry to hear this news Gary! But I can appreciate some things are just out of our control. I will await to hear more news, but I may have to pull out from the list of interested people, due to a couple of unforseen things here too.

I will still keep watch for how this works out, and go from there...

Thanks for taking the time to let us all know, I appreciate that!

Regards,

Andy

Also sorry to hear about this. But like the others set: your work so far is really appreciated, and I hope someone is taking over this project. Still really interested in a kit (or two).

I am also sorry to hear this, and I hope that everything is all right with you. I am still interested in the parts whenever someone else can continue the project.

I'm fine, and most importantly so is my family. I appreciate the kind words.

I'm pretty sure I have someone that can pick up the project and do it justice. Just need to work out the details (and parts) this weekend.

Well this maybe my first post here, but I've been following this for some time. I only have a '2nd class' red base unit, but it's ready and waiting for the extra parts.

Is there some news already about who is going to take over this project from Gary? I think a lot of people are really hoping that someone will continue this project and can deliver kits...

I'm working on it right now actually... :) Spent a good part of the weekend getting all the bits sorted. Trying to also do a lot of the leg work and get my files all set up. Case in point.

Needed to get the Brackets all set up for CAD, and try to translate it from Weaverish to English :) I have a change I need to make to the part before locking this down. The original bracket appears to have been bent first and then the notches cut out of the bottom to mate it to the Futaba - figures.

Once I teak that, it's pretty much done. Then I have to figure out how to properly replicate this little nightmare - the back plug. How many of you knew about that? :love

As you can see there are supposed to be pins that come from the back of the stanley block and they plug into a reciever with solder/spade terminals. I have an idea on how to do this, just need to prototype it out.

The project is definitely not dead by any means and luckily I have more time now to work on setting it up before it's handed off.

Gary, you're great!!! Really glad to see this project is still alive and kicking!!!

I have 2 white Molex indicators in great shape if they would be of help for multiple mold purposes.
