Attention: BANDAI will stop selling kits outside Japan

That's a stupid reason if true... Hasbro makes toys, Bandai makes collectibles. They're not even aiming at the same market.

After this, I suspect Disney may have some problems with future license sales... nothing more insulting than having some geep try and run *your* business.

Regards, Robert

I have it from a good source that this relates directly to Disney's Episode VII licensing. Bandai's is also releasing EP VII figures through the S.H. Figuarts line, so this *is* a ban on exporting Bandai's MODELS...
So, if I understand this correctly, it's only the models Bandai is producing that are directly related to Episode VII that they're not allowed to export, but it's okay for them to export their non-Episode VII Star Wars models?

Bandai's S.H. Figuarts posable "Star Wars" figures are unaffected by the ban, including Episode VII figures, so it's not Hasbro. This is specifically the SW Bandai model kits vs. Disney's Episode VII model kit licensing, which Revell unfortunately seems to have a North American/European exclusive on. Is it impossible that Disney did an International SW licensing review and suddenly clamped down on Bandai's model exports? No, it's just highly unlikely. Licensing infractions are usually reported an offended party, so that spells REVELL to me

While initiated by Episode VII, all of Bandai's "Star Wars" model kits are affected, due to the Disney-branded licensing going forward with these new sequels.

Interesting. The reason I asked is, I ordered Bandai's 1/12 scale C-3PO and combo R2-D2/R5-D4 kits from Hobby Link Japan on Monday, well after news of the sales restrictions went public, and was fully expecting them to cancel the order because I live in the U.S.. Instead, it went through normally and I received a shipping notice yesterday. :confused

By the way, they now have the R2-D2/R5-D4 kit listed as "Discontinued". Didn't Bandai release that kit only six months ago?

HLJ has been allowed to reduce their Bandai SW model kits stock until September 20, then no International orders accepted. International HLJ customers who pre-ordered Bandai's 1/72 Slave I and 1/12 Boba Fett before the hammer fell will have those orders fulfilled, but that's it.

Well, that explains it. I guess I'd better order that Speeder Bike sooner rather than later then. :lol

R2-D2/R5-D4 is discontinued on HLJ's Japanese site, so it's probably legitimately discontinued. With the licensing issues, it could be out of production like Bandai's 1/48 electronic X-Wing.

Sandtrooper is back up for sale.

Thank you for that! I was hoping for a few more, if only for some extra stormtroopers. Just before the cutoff, too.

HLJ's Japanese site has begun listing Bandai's EP VII kits.

And...they're GONE.

"Thank you for your order today for BAN997348 1/12 Star Wars Sandtrooper.

This item was very briefly made available for sale on our website today, mistakenly listed as a November-release preorder item limited to three per customer. It was actually released this month, and the very few we have remaining are unfortunately limited to one per customer so that everyone can get one. The quantity of this item in your order has been lowered to one piece now, but the good news is that it will enter payment payment processing within the next 24 hours, rather than in November.

We apologize for the inconvenience to you. Thank you very much for your understanding, and for shopping with us."

Sandtrooper is gone again! I did order Vader's Tie before it disappeared!

And I think "Discontinued" means they will have no more on the site and "Order Stop" means they are back ordered.

Pretty sure this is just old stuff that was found. These kits came out back in 2011.

Perhaps, but there's possibility these are reissues, quite unusual for the big 3 online stores to start stocking the same thing had they been old unsold items; whatever prompted them to put these old FM kits for sale now is a mystery, especially when it's assumed FM shouldn't be making these anymore.

On another note, now would be a good time to prepare your comparison reviews when Bandai's comes out later this month.
