Yeah, but you did an incredible job of it!!That's actually not so easy trying to make all these lines, sized right, and straight as possible.

Thanks. Quite teduis, and I still have to do Red 2 and 3.Yeah, but you did an incredible job of it!!
What reference pics do you have? I have some, but not sue if you have them already, JediMichael.Getting the first part done on Red 5.
Don't have as many great reference photos as I'd like, but a lot of the actual model is wrong anyways. One of the other X-wings for sure.
So will do what I can to match things, and parts I'll just interpret it best I can.

Getting the black painted on the fins. Need to touch up the edges and add another light coat.
Since it has a bit of reflection, as the real ones used coolshade, I decided to mix a little of gloss black into the flat black.
Not the same effect of course, but best I can really do with paint.

These here, which is sized WAY down for here. Just searched google. From all over, even members that had posted pics here in the past. What reference pics do you have? I have some, but not sue if you have them already, JediMichael.
Okay, then let me give you the ones I have that aren't any of these and see if they help you out; as best I can tell, these are Red 5:These here, which is sized WAY down for here. Just searched google. From all over, even members that had posted pics here in the past.
Even in high res, it can be tricky to tell if its the lighting or a shadow creating a certain color tone or not. So why I'm just interpreting it best I can.

Link: Anyone have Red Five X Wing reference photos?
I'm currently doing prep work on a 2002 Star Wars POTF X-Wing (BIG one) that I will be (hopefully) converting into a studio-scale model) of Red 5. So that said: If I come up with any other references, I'll share them with you as you need them!
Yeah, I noticed that too just after I posted the pics. Some of these will have to be taken with a grain of salt; it's a shame so little material exists! Thanks.
Although, that first picture, the red stripe ends at the point where it starts on Red 5, past the white line I made here.
Also, the drawing, while pretty good, is that small red stripe by the cockpit on the right side.

Yeah...and that's why I figure, do the best I can. Once hung, you kind of forget anyways....and anyone the ever comes over, it's like, they look at it for maybe 10 seconds....say it's really cool, and would have no idea if anything was wrong.Yeah, I noticed that too just after I posted the pics. Well, at studio scale, the details that are microscopic can really leap out. As for crazy...Yeah...and that's why I figure, do the best I can. So many big time fans I've talked with didn't even realize the number of stripes was their spoken number.
I didn't either, but now, with so much on the internet, it's almost hard to miss.
Or maybe because we obsess over the stuff like this....lol.
Just the insane amout of detail the ILM guys put in that is hardly noticed.
At least we do here....and now they think we're all crazy...especially the studio scale guys.
