Is your printer a resin printer? My dad bought me one right before he passed away that I haven't used yet.awesome. I just put my test print of the "vader rod" and other greeblies in the UV cure lamp.
While similar to the ones used on Vader's chest box, yes it's quite a bit thicker and has different details. I used zorg's diagram as a rough template for the dimensions and scaled it to screenshots for verification and tweaking. It'll do for now.
(It's split and keyed with a square peg so it would fit on my printer)

Thanks for the info on the rod. I wasn't sure weather I wanted to use rod or tubing. The real one appears to be tubing as it is kinked in the corners.
But I think rod looks better.
Yeah, DLP printer. Same one I use for all of my kits. I'll post pics in a little bit once it's done curing. Is your printer a resin printer? My dad bought me one right before he passed away that I haven't used yet.
oh dude, you can HAVE whatever you want that I end up making for this project. I'm just so stoked to get a metal blade.Trooper_trent I wouldn't mind, if you're willing to sell me two of your vader rods. Zorg helped me out a lot on this project.
I have that same photo, I honestly never noticed the kink in the tube
Thank you. Yeah the injury initially happened when I was in the Marine Corp but since then has only worsened. I'd rather be missing fingers than have back problems.Yeah, DLP printer. Same one I use for all of my kits. I'll post pics in a little bit once it's done curing.
Sorry to hear about your dad. Also sorry to hear about your back injury. I've had something similar in the past and it is SO not fun.
I'm definitely going to use rod. But yeah it's hard to say.I have that same photo, I honestly never noticed the kink in the tube
I'm Making the Yamaha base out of aluminum. As soon as I get well I'll cut some. However I need that Yamaha piece so I can sleep at night. Are you selling them? I found one on shapeways but it is completely incorrect. You can't tell from the photos they post.when i built mine, i'm 99.9% sure there is interference between the dryer and the connector part, i can't find the ref pic i had but it looked like a small part of the dryer was ground away allowing the correct alignment.
the part you have on the pole where the lower rod part goes in is not circular, it's more of a lozenge shape, flatter top and bottom.
the piece of rod attached to the blade side pieces looks too chunky to my eyes.
found these in the shed just now, the mold has a ton of life left, platinum silicone, the black piece is the tamiya part. i only did a few castings out of this mold because i modified a casting to include the circular divot in the yamaha script and included the base part in the castings i sold.

I think you said you used a 10mm aluminum tube on your amphenol connector. It looked too small at the time I remember so I sized up according to the connector i had.when i built mine, i'm 99.9% sure there is interference between the dryer and the connector part, i can't find the ref pic i had but it looked like a small part of the dryer was ground away allowing the correct alignment.
