007's new "skyfall" PPKS

Ppk vs ppks

Looking at the slight difference in the angle of the grip face and backstrap I'm going to go with PPK.

This has got to be one of the skyfall props factory entertainment has planned. I wonder if they'll release it around the release of the movie.

The only slight difference i can spot between the two compared to the hero, grip aside, is the clip release, is that it? If it is Walther stamped on the end of the hero, its positioning suggests PPK. The more i see the new grip, the more i like it.

It's the back of the slide. Compare the profiles. The PPK/s has a sharper angle on it that the PPK. The gun in the film has been made so it's snag free mind you, but that feature remains.

Also, just above the trigger guard along the frame, the PPK has an extra bevel the PPK/s does not.

This slide at the rear looks like the PPK/s then on this one and no extra bevel near the trigger. The slides should be the same as the original PPK/s was a PPK slide on a PP frame.

I'm not very knowledgeable on these, but what does the 'under license of' mean, etched on the slide?
Does this mean that 'third party' companies are making these?
Could this account for the differences?

And from what I'm reading, the PPK/S is basically a PP with a PPK slide to allow it to be imported into the US

The PPK and the PPK/s is being manufactured by Smith & Wesson :)thumbsdown) under the license from Walther. Interarms at one time manufactured the PPK(/s) under Walther's license at one time.

I switch camps: it's a PPK/s

That would be awesome if it was their first Skyfall prop and it was molded off a screen-used gun with all the lights and everything. But at the same time, I'd guess it wouldn't be as complex or functional as a real/airsoft PPK/S.

But I'm sure someone here will make a set of grips to attach to a blank-firing or airsoft. :thumbsup

There is more evidence that this is a PPK/s than a PPK. I contacted some PPK enthusiasts as well and they tend to agree on the PPk/s. So I stand corrected, however it looks like Bond does use a standard PPK in the opening from what I can see in these pictures. Q must upgrade him after he comes back.

That makes sense. I recall him using more than one Walther in previous films, notably a P99 and PPK. It makes more sense for Q as well, to serve a purpose, when he gives James this custom pistol.

And, sorta' off-topic... I am crazy excited for SkyFall. :)

He also uses it with gloves in some screencaps....
I figure gloves don't go well with palmprint identificators.

Does this mean that someone steals his PPK and uses it against him perhaps? Hence the need for an ID safety mechanism.
