007's new "skyfall" PPKS

Love the look of this Walther. I guess now the Maruzan PPK/S will be a way to build an accurate replica of this gun, with customized grips.

If airsoft does a current PPK/S from the Smith and Wesson model it would be ever more accurate with that ugly beaver tail extending off of the back.

As far as I'm aware, which could be wrong as I've not looked in a little while, all of the airsoft and cap firing versions are based off of the original Walther designs and not the S & W crap.

As far it being a PPK or PPK/S, on first viewing it, I would have sworn it was a PPK, I've owned a PPK/S and it just did not look the same, but the one I owned was the Interarms version and not the garbage from S & W.

Correct. So far its not produced but just give it time I'm sure.

To be honest I think the whole "PPK/S" thing is something a writer without a big knowledge of firearms would write to make it sound like more than it really is. They go with the regular PPK however because of the classic look and just figure "nobody will be able to tell the difference".

True. The average Bond fan may be aware of the PPK but probably not the differences in models.

I was one of them. Even though I was big into Bond since Thunderball came out in 1965 and knew all about the PPK from the books, I had never heard of the PPK/S until I started looking for a PPK in the 1970's and found out the only thing you could legally buy in the US was the PPK/S. Once I got my hands on one, I then found out what was different between the them and even got to like the PPK/S because it fit better in my hand. But, as a Bond nut, there is only one real PPK and that is the German made PPK.

I still don't understand why S & W had to redesign them and really don't like them and would never buy one even though if someone wanted to give me one I would not say no.

They added the tail to help keep people's hands from being bitten by the slide. Good for shooters bad for aesthetics.

I know what the design was for, I just don't understand why after 75 or 80 years, S & W thought it was something that needed to be done when they started making them.

Does anyone know if Walther still makse the PPK for the European market and if so, did they make the same change? I know at some point they released something called the PPK/E that was only available in Europe that look much like thier version of the PPK/S, but I don't know if that is still available.

Gotcha. Maybe to make it more appealing to the modern concealed handgun market?

Don't you just hate it when someone changes something just to make it more appealing to a different market.

I understand that designs sometimes change, even the PPK slide was redesigned after WWII and look at what happned to the M1911 .45 Auto, they redesigned the hammer and grip spur in the 1920's for the same exact reason S & W did, but they did it in a much less noticable manner.

This is just a sore point with me, I think they ruined a perfectly good design but they seem to have sold well over the years.

The "Walther Bite" is usually avoidable even with large hands. Usually it's just a matter of moving your thumb over your middle finger on the grip. But a shooter unaware of this with larger hands may get the bite. I'll take the risk of a bite over the beaver tail...unless it has LEDs in it lol

I think i have discovered a possible way of doing this build! How ever the bb gun or gun used will not be fireable as the circuit will be in the mag area of the gun and the the mag will be cut in half and placed in the gun to make it look real. But best of all it will only light the 3 leds when the grip is held :)

This thing is tailor made for the RPF. Even has LED lights in the grip! :)

I've been thinking about picking up one of the newer and nicer blank firing replicas. Might have to give some thought to creating a grip like this.

Anybody thinking of doing a run of resin guns with an LED kit?

:love

I would definitely be buying.
