Vader's MPP shroud (update)

Re: Vader's MPP shroud

My dad, redbutton got one a week or two ago and it's amazing. Spot on, as far as I can tell and it really gives Vader sabers that edge. Powdercoating ain't got nothing on Roy's shrouds

Re: Vader's MPP shroud

Got my shroud in the post! Damn, does it look good! The wrinkle paint is superb! Nice JOB - oh and thanks! I'll have to get busy on my
DV saber! Thanks again Roy!
On another note did some from the RPF bid on the M32 scope?? I had a deal going with the guy for it...anyway 399.95 is too much
geeeeeesssshhhh!

Re: Vader's MPP shroud

I just put some clear packing tape on the bottom my bubble strip and make it just come up around the edges - it's hidden under the clamps edges - now it stays in
in the DV clamp.

Re: Vader's MPP shroud

I've just compared Roy's shrouds to my real MPP. He has absolutely nailed this. It's brilliant. Really.

Re: Vader's MPP shroud

Here's what I got from wannawanga.com - i.e. Roy.
As is said here frequently- please excuse the crappy iPad photos. I'm too lazy to pull out the real camera.

That is the clamp pin/screw. It is the end that the lever attaches to (without the lever).

Exactly right. My Saber was made from parts of three different MPPs to get the right look and it just so happened that one of the clamps came perfectly pre broken in the desired area. The clamp lever had snapped off leaving the rounded screw end and lever pin in place as you see it in the picture.

Re: Vader's MPP shroud

I just placed my order for a shroud, bubble strip, ANH t-track, plus a belt clip. I look forward to receiving the package :cool.

Re: Vader's MPP shroud

Hey guys,

I've made a new blueprint drawing of Vader's ESB saber.
It is very accurately based on the images of the real prop (you know, the pictures taken in Casino / Movie Museum) by doing some 3D perspective matching.

You can also check it here at WannaWanga: http://wannawanga.com/goodies/
If anybody wants to print it out in scale 1:1 it has an A2 paper size.

Enjoy!

Very nice!
2 questions: what's that font you're using in the blueprints, and, how's the bulb release coming along?

No news on the bulb release; they're coming along fine. And the font is called 'DRAFTSMAN', which I believe is free.

Hey Roy, that looks great! But just a minor nitpick, your back end is slightly off.

The coin-edge is sightly raised and from what I could tell from the Hollywood Casino photos, the T-track didn't sit flush with the coin edge, rather, it sat just beneath it at the bottom of the "slope":

Good call! Yes, I agree: it's off. I didn't include the serrations (coin edge) because of the cluster of lines, but it seems that the MPP end cap is also quite different from a round Heiland endcap. I also think I need to have the black part extending from the back. I'll need to have some measurements of that.

Re: Vader's MPP shroud

So for us noobs, is one of these the perfect substitute ( or closest) to an MPP? Still trying to figure out what qualities the right Heiland needs. If I had to venture a guess I would say the one second from the right is the best candidate.
Second from right ;)
