Re: Vader's MPP shroud

Really looks great and the wires add to the look.
But now I've to ask out of curiousness. Are there wires on the ANH Vader or only on the ESB saber.
There aren't really any reference pictures out of the films.

Thanks!
Looks like you got the answer to your question. I believe that only the ESB got the wires.
Another thing I think but am unsure of is that the ANH had chrome side bars on the clamp while the ESB had black ones. Anyone confirm this? It says this on The Parts of Star Wars.

Just written in message 234:

-straight, one side rough from extrusion, other side machined, with aluminum color, I think this is the ANH version (I had this version but the aluminum was inside, they may have switched them and aluminum outside)

Isn´t working in this thread only.

I Just want to let you know that the MPP bulb release button is now available at WannaWanga.com:

You can also get the full Darth Vader ESB conversion kit:

Or only the electric wires set:

Thanks for waiting!

I take it that some holes will need to be drilled into the Heiland to attach the bulb release. Will we also need to tap the holes so that the screws have something to hold on to? If so what size hole (drill bit) and tap will we need?

The screws are metric M2.5
A 2mm drill bit and M2.5 tap bit will work. The screws are stainless steel, you might manage to screw them in without tapping (not sure about it). I myself drilled 2.5mm holes and glued the part and screws directly to the Heiland (yes I'm guilty)

Excellent, thank you. I don't think I'll glue it on in case I ever have a need to remove the clamp I'll be able to.

Hey, guys.

This is a little off-topic, but I figured with all the MPP enthusiasts focused on this thread, I could get an answer quickly:

Can someone please tell me how to remove the electronic guts of an MPP flash without damaging anything? Are the two shroud mounting screws on the handle what are holding the guts in or are the latch screws involved too? Surely, it's not glued in, right?

I have a Heiland which should be close enough. Once I removed all the screws from the external stuff (shroud, bulb-release etc) the guts slid right out.
