Well, it looks like they made an updated version of Luke's ROTJ saber for TFA...

I don't see the hole, and if there is one where you're seeing it, it would greatly increase the price of the prop, so I'm not going to add it to the model. I think you probably are right about the recess depth. As to the box. The one on my model is defiantly to small. But, while I'm confused by the asymmetry, it is what I'm seeing, so that's what I'd go with.

Really? It's clear as day to me. Maybe up the brightness on your monitor? It shouldn't be too hard to drill in after the fact, but I wanted to note it nonetheless.

Considering the hole is inside the recess, it would require the saber to be made in more than just two parts because a mill can't access that area without milling through the shower-head surface, which would be most undesirable. For the prop, It's probably a hole for a retention screw or something similar, but we can't really be sure as the resolution is too low.

Right, but since the inside of the emitter looks to have been darkened with aluminum black or paint, the splodge you're seeing could just as easily be a paint blob. Since I can't see it any clearer, I don't think it's worth redesigning the construction and increasing the machining cost

Yes. Nicksdad's saber run will probably put a damper on my ISYHCANL run for a while, since it looks like he's gathered up a bunch of commitments from people who I was expecting to be in on my run.

I will wait patiently, then. To echo Jedi Reali, I am a fan of your brand of accuracy. Also, as Mara Jade's Father suggested, I would have no problem throwing down a deposit when the time comes. Until then, I am anxiously watching the development of this project. I am soooo down. And to think that I used to not like the copper-necked sabers at all. It's funny how one's tastes change with time.

I'd be in for both. The more sabers in my collection, the better. :D

I actually have a picture of Mark Hamill holding this from a couple of months ago.

But I'll keep looking for a higher res version of it.

dan have you seen that one?

Well, been awhile since I've been here... just popped in because I've been thinking about Lightsabers again, and what do I find? A new emitter on Luke's lightsaber?! I actually like it, gives it more character.

So yeah, I'm down for a kit when it gets to that point. I'll also make it a point to stay up on the site so I don't miss it.

I admittedly didn't read all 12 pages. Yes. That is the pic I was talking about.

With as much interest in SW lately because of the new movie, I think you'll still have enough interest in your version to keep costs reasonable. I for one would like to have both versions, ND's and yours. But I also agree with what others have posted: a non-refundable deposit.

And btw, I'd be in on a $100 kit of this saber. That said, I would rather hold off a LITTLE while longer and make sure that we have the clearest pics that are to be had, and then pay $125 to accommodate any additional details found.

Yep. Me too. But with so many folk jumping on board his run, it decreases the number who would be in on my run, and consequently raises my costs. Last time I did a Luke Hero run, I had a bunch of people committed, I ordered the parts, put up my own money, then when it came time to pay up. A bunch of people jumped ship and signed up for Rylo's run because it was a bit cheaper leaving me holding the bag. I don't want to put myself in a similar situation, and I also don't want to compete with Nicksdad and screw up his run.
