Well, it looks like they made an updated version of Luke's ROTJ saber for TFA...

Well, we don't know if that was the TFA prop that Mark had in the special. It looks like it from the small blurry shot we can see at the middle of the video. But, the graflex is an ESB replica, so who knows where they got these from

Yep. Me too. But with so many folk jumping on board his run, it decreases the number who would be in on my run, and consequently raises my costs. Last time I did a Luke Hero run, I had a bunch of people committed, I ordered the parts, put up my own money, then when it came time to pay up. A bunch of people jumped ship and signed up for Rylo's run because it was a bit cheaper leaving me holding the bag. I don't want to put myself in a similar situation, and I also don't want to compete with Nicksdad and screw up his run.

Count me in for small run of this new TFA/ROTJ Luke if you do it. Also I'd still be in if you did the ISYHCANL run!!! ;)

Ok. I'm waiting back to hear quotes from 2 shops. Hopefully on Monday or Tuesday I'll be able to determine the feasibility of this.

I'm a poly-whatever they call it. I'm on for both runs :) can't ever have too many quality built awesome lightsabers (or blasters)!
Yes. Nicksdad's saber run will probably put a damper on my ISYHCANL run for a while, since it looks like he's gathered up a bunch of commitments from people who I was expecting to be in on my run.

I love how from the side it's got a familiar profile but looking down the emitter gives you something new. Also, I'm assuming these renders are with the camera in a parallel projection mode. It makes the one side of the activation box look longer than the other. I wonder if it's a similar lens-distortion effect that makes the box look a little wonky in the screen caps.

Also, is it just me, or do the black boxes on the control box looks like they might be a little lower than on the ROTJ hero?

Actually the control box is asymmetrical on my model
I think the shape of the control box is symmetrical, as well as its placement on the body of the saber. I even think the rails are. True the left one looks thinner at the front, but if you look at the back the width is the same. I think the light is washing out the left one a bit and making it appear thinner, and other optical effects are in play to suggest the other possible asymmetries.

I've been waiting forever for a Hero Luke saber run (on account of the V2 love that I don't share), and at $100 for a kit I'm so in. Although I'm in agreeance those who think the box is symmetrical and only looks off cuz of angle/lighting of the pics.

dan will the control box be able to have the lid slide open to reveal electronics? judging by the 3d drawing it looks like the control box is solid

I'd prefer an electronics ready version, so if this is a static, as nice as it may be I'll have to pass.

Hoping we'll be able to come up with one that we can do a full install on and get the full effect of the control box lights etc.

I'm going to keep thinking about the box. You guys miight be right. No electronics on this one. And the box will be solid, since this one isn't meant to be a copy of the ROTJ hero
