I keep getting emails lately asking about remotes.

I dont sell the kits that I used too, and wouldnt do to recent associations with a certain company.

However,....selling PARTS to do one....any interest?

    Complete part set..with UNPLATED rims?

    THoughts?

I am trying to remember if it is one of yours that I bought a few years back. It has been on my "Table of Unfinished Goodies." for some time. I dug up the rims and may be interested in a set. As far as building a new one goes with someone selling all the greeblies? Sounds good to me.

Oh, I checked out that chroming site. Very reasonable and they make it seem easy enough.

Frank, I'm interested in a kit . :D You know it may be an idea to post an interest thread in the junkyard as I find a lot of our members don't look in here , mostly just the junkyard and prop threads.

    Just a thought...

What kind of price range are we talking about here? $50, $100, $150? I absolutly want to build a Jedi remote, but I've had some big expenses lately so price is a major factor in my interest. If I can swing the co$t I am in.

If I did these...the parts would all be individual.

Also the Middle band of rectangles.....would be styrene, measure provided...but you can buy your own plastic.

Also, the Domes, the info on where and what to order would be provided.
    You order them.

The kit would be the rims and tank parts, one complete set to finish a remote.

    Thats what Im thinking about.

Just from someone who has scratch built one of these before (incredible tutorial by the way, BF.), is there a way you could include a template for those semi-circular rings that go around the rims? That is the one thing that really slowed down my build. Having to cut them out and then hand shape each one because of the curvature was a real nightmare.

Since I'm not involved in this run (building one was more than enough), that's the one thing I would have loved to have had, but I'm sure people doing this build would appreciate it (if making a template is even possible).

Yeah....or better yet. A pattern and maybe a vacu formed dome to cut out?

I've got Domes, I've had them for about 10 years. Got them for another project. 6" plastruct domes, ready to go. I'm in for just the 'detailed parts(those rectangles can be cut out of styrene).

I think a simple pattern would suffice. The problem is that they are not simple rings that are being cut out. Because of the geometry of the dome, the rings aren't true circles. I can't even describe what the heck the final shape is :confused .

    Just sayin', is all... :thumbsup

I would be down with a decent kit minus the domes to keep it a decent price.
So the domes are the Plastruct domes-6"od and 5 3/4" id and 3" high?
( i have thier catalog in front of me)

I dont know where the price list went to? but i reckon you could go to thier site and get a check on it? Sorry.
but i still wan to build one.
If you do a kit, how would you do the chrome rims? cast them and send them out for plating?
What kind of truck did they come from? and which tank coupola did it require? tiger or panther?

The Plastruct product code for the 6" hemis is VHH-600. They're running $10.80 (x2) plus shipping. Plastruct has a minimum $20 order, IIRC.

    Depends on the interest.
Id rather not try and guess how many sets of rims I would need, so I would create a sign up lsit with NON-refundable deposit, then make the rims, send them off to be chromed and add the cost to the kit.
