The Mandalorian (TV series)

more macros to build!

Also, I'm assuming there's another after the Yoda baby since the Mando's client wanted it alive whereas the one that hired IG wanted it dead.

That, or the Werner Herzog character really wants the baby dead. He lead with a higher “live” bounty with Mando, to placate Dr. Pritchard for some reason, but made a separate “dead-only” offer to IG-11. Note how Herzog was dropping a vibe like, “If you bring the target in dead, that’s totally OK with me.”

While the music felt a touch out of place, I think that's just because it's different than were used to, rather than it actually being out of place.

Even the stand alone movies we've gotten (rogue one and Solo) have been based on genre films that have big sweeping orchestra pieces in them, so we felt like they had the same kind of music as the trilogies. Rogue one is a world war II spy movie, and Solo is a heist. Both of those genres are commonly filled with big sweeping soundtracks.

But Mandalorian is a Sergio Leone style spaghetti western. The musical scores in those are often unique, and easily recognizable, but they're not big sweeping emotional affairs. Not nearly as often as we're used to getting out of the trilogies at least. They're relatively subdued, almost like a musical version of the background noise of nature.

Ok... anyone else having premonitions of a potential Star Wars "Lone Wolf and Cub" story arc? Can't say I would object if that's the case, but also not what I ever would have expected...

I’m ok with the music, a story like this doesn’t fit with the grand adventurous score. The more moody, tribal stuff fits I think.

That could fit great. The lines between great samurai flicks and great westerns are so blurred, that many are one and the same. Having that show up in a star wars Western would work well.

Maybe he'll try to get him in as a "foundling" :p

I sucked it up and watched the episode on my phone, even though i was against it. I have no devices that stream Disney+ other then my phone but I really wanted to see it.

All I'll say is I can not believe they had the out of place blue guy make a reference to The Holiday Special.

As I was reading through the comments I was already forming a response in my head with regards to the music style. You nailed it. This has very much a Hang em High or True Grit style of going out on their own to get the bounty feel. Some here may not be familiar with that style of movie and it's not what we've been used to in the SWU. I thought the music fit really well.

I'm actually really impressed with this so far. There's a few nit picky things I'd have done differently, and I sorta wish his armor was more finely detailed looking in places cause it does feel just a hair "Cosplay" to me, but I'm really surprised and delighted with what I've just watched. It very much feels StarWars for me. I kinda wish it were just a hair more violent and down and gritty tbh I guess but it does very well for something Disney.
Music is interesting and didn't bother me much. Felt unique and new and yet true to the universe's feel. CGI was both very impressive and yet oddly obvious at times throughout, bad cgi being the faces towards the big end fight
idk how I feel about the mcguffin at the end though. Interesting but kinda odd feeling

Was that either Nick Nolte speaking or playing the character riding the other reptile with the Mandelorion.....I think so?
Yeahh that was a little weird for me for whatever reason... I think it was because my brain got locked in on trying to figure out who’s voice it was. It didn’t bother me anywhere as much the second watch through

Can't add much to what you guys already said, but I'm diggin' it so far! It has the most OT feel since... the OT. I just hope that the running time of the remaining episodes is closer to an hour. With this one, it almost felt like Disney designed it to be syndicated in the near future, allowing time for commercials. That would be a major step backwards.

The score was ok imo. The worst was the tune when they were riding their beasts over the gaps was way too happy and "yippee I can ride a beast" for Star Wars I thought.

Otherwise not bad. The Galactica Abbie was great. More like that for sure !!

Is anyone else as annoyed as I am by the unnecessary changes to the SW logo? This is a new change, right? Yet another arbitrary change that no-one wants!
