A Revell Mandalorian N-1 Starfighter Custom

Yep, same here: love the color and the wear & tear effects (those glowing engines are a thing of beauty):cool:(y)(y):love:
When I saw your first post, I thought to myself "white on chrome?" But I have to admit that you've pulled it off!!
The white on chrome thing was an idea I just needed to see through. I'm glad the salt mask technique worked. If I had to do this again I would peel a little bit more of the white off here and there, especially around the skirts.

Forgot this from the previous post.

The engine glow is achieved with a round disc of clear styrene sheet with Vallejo white glaze airbrushed on one side as diffusor. There is not much room in the gap between the outer shell and the internal support with those two pegs. The pegs are where the spiky things protruding from the engines are attached to. I used three small 3528 chip leds on each engine, they fit nicely in the gap. Some aluminium tape is used to block light from leaking to unwanted spaces but it looks like the plastic on this kit is pretty good in blocking it on its own.

I'm calling this done. I didn't do terribly much for weathering after all. Some barely visible streaks with black, most notably on top behind the nose cannons. There are some decals here and there but nothing too prominent. On the top in front of the canopy there are orange diagonal stripes. That is a direct hommage to the original blue X-wing, it had those same strips in front of its canopy. They are Microscale Rio Grande decals, the same they used.

I may add some weathering some day, especially on the bottom, but for now I'm all out of ideas how to do it. This is as good as it gets with the tools I have in my box.

This was fun!

Congratulations again on this build!
Love the white paint job! And you are right, the design is extremely durable in terms of taking different colours and even mods to the ship. I may have to open up a thread on the ones I am working on right now after all
Thanks for taking us along for the ride!

Really nice finish on that ..all the repairs and repaints really paid off (2thumsup)
This was close to getting thrown in the bin. Never, ever have I repainted a model like this but there is a first for everything. I'm so glad it worked. Thanks!

Thanks! Someone said in a comment to one of the photographs I've posted of this that the N-1 reminded him of the SR-71 Blackbird. Thinking what the N-1 would look like in the SR-71 colours, flat black with the red stripes, it instantly felt like sure, it'd work. :)

Oh man, you must! I'm very much looking forward to seeing a thread for your colourful trio. On Instagram the photographs are just too small to fully appreciate all the details.
