Teaser: My new lightsaber "working" blade

ok, here is something I've been wanting to do for a looooong time.

This is the very first all-in-the-hilt wireless saber sound module. Sounds are synchronized with the saber blade itself.. I am using a bluetooth radio mounted to my patented wireless saber module. The upgraded wireless module also hooks into my blade driver board to synchronize all events: power up/down, swings, clashes, etc. All the saber has is a single pushbutton for on/off - everything else is automated. :)

I am hoping to use this saber for choreographed fight sequences. The really cool thing is that you can talk back to the saber hilt from the PC hub. That means you can turn the saber on/off remotely, play swing sounds, clash sounds at will, etc. I hope it will give a whole new dimension to the type of saber demos we can do. :)

I think I played with the saber for a good hour inside with sounds playing out of my stereo. Anyway here is a short clip showing some of the wireless features working:

Thanks, yeah I have been working on this saber for some time. Technology has finally caught up, and I have reached the level I had been hoping for some time: A fully wireless sound system inside the saber with interactive blade and motion effects. Pretty much as realistic as you can get IMO without having the real deal. :) It's hard to put the saber down once you pick it up, I find myself swinging it around every night. :lol

BTW, I just got in the "ultra super" bright green blade today. I had one special made to see how much brighter the green will get if I run it at the same power level as the blue and red blades. More on that later.

Look forward to seeing that... assuming it doesn't burn out your camera lens. ;)

First time I've visited this thread, and I gotta say that your work is AMAZING. I want one... Or two... or three... ;)

hey hyperdyne. I know these still have a ways to go but based on the materials used what will the price be....around. BTW those are some of the sickest saber blades I've ever seen.

Asked and answered in post 290....

ijbrekke, yes the blade is removable. All you have to do is remove the set screws, take out the coupler and unplug the blade. You can replace any color and use the same driver board.

Not sure when/if I will go into production. If I do I plan to have plenty of them manufactured. Pricing is also not totally done. But if I sell a blade kit it will be competitive with current EL and LED blade products currently out there. It might be a tad more expensive due to my component cost, but it is not astronomical by any means...

I would be very interesting in making this purchase. These look totally awesome. I hope everything is going well, and perhapse we will be able to get some this year???

Well, I'm certainly in for at least a couple of blades... ESPECIALLY if you do a good purple one. I'm dying to replace the blade on my Mace FX with something superior. :D

Can't wait to see the ultra super bright green. Dang, the first one was killing us. Wow, it's nice to see so much interest in this great product.

I got the "super duper" green blade back. It works great, I just need to take apart my saber and install the new blade.

I am also going to play around with some ideas for a purple blade. More to come.

Dang. You might want to see a doctor about that. :lol

You could put a green blade in a mace hilt. I personally cant since my mace hilt looks like the emperor cut it in two.

There is no list. This is not an interest thread, just a showoff thread right now. :)

I got DSL back up and running in my house tonight, and got a chance to see the videos of the new blades. Wow.. In one of them the red blade was so bright that I actually saw streaks when the blade powered down into darkness. It's also cool to see how much the new blade casts light on the user, and the snow on the ground. That clearly shows that it's tons brighter than the MR blade.

Yeah, the ambient light the blade throws onto the user and the ground was quite impressive. We couldnt believe it looked that bright outside.
