Sucker Punch costume thread

Awesome looking Amber so far!!

Finally got some good quality pictures of my Babydoll, still have many things to fix before I wear it again but still, really like these photos. The photographer was a great girl, really friendly and easy to work with!
Also got a pic. of my more accurate wig, ignore that I look ill in the photo...as I do indeed have a cold.

Looking awesome katmurz! great job overall!

Tiney, you're off to a great start! Can't wait to see what you do with the rest of your costume.

Nice job on the katana, did you sketch those on the sword by hand?

Had to put "no" because Friday is always dedicated to our 300 costumes. My wife's group will be wearing them all Saturday night though I believe, just incase anyone else can't make this one.

Thanks for the heads up! I may bring out Amber again since it took forever to make. :lol

Skimmed thru the thread. Some great costumes have been done!

Anyone make a undead german soldier yet?

Amber's Cropped Jacket

Hi guys! I've been reading and following this thread and figured its about time I posted too! Thanks for all the help and resources! I'm working on an Amber costume, while trying to help another friend with Blondie.

Thanks for linking your jacket Vasarian! Very cool!

I have a question for all the Ambers though. I'm not using a flight suit as the base but making it from scratch, what sort of material should I be looking at? Is stretch cotton a good material for the jacket and pants?

Thanks for the comments. I think it is best you pm me about commissions, spod. :)

As to the fabric, I highly recommend a synthetic fiber with spandex and not cotton. most stretchy cottons are not that stretchy. And this set is skin tight! Good luck!

I'm fairly certain the flight suit I'm working with is made out of nylon. The majority of the flights suits you find would be made out of nylon. While I love working with spandex, there's a little more structure to the jacket that spandex won't give.

I initially contemplated making the outfit from scratch as well and I was going to go with a bottomweight twill that was 100% cotton called army green which I thought was perfect.

I think if I were to make this outfit from scratch, I'd probably do a combination with the twill and spandex.

But really, it's personal preference and what you're comfortable working with.

If you look at pictures of the actual Amber costume, you can see the underside of the sleeves in the jacket as well as the inside of the pants/chaps are a different color and probably different material. I'm not sure if they combined two flight suits to make one hence the two different colors or the inside could be a stretchy material to give it that close fit. I'm still working on my suit and I'm contemplating incorporating spandex on the underside. I donno.

Those are just my random thoughts. XD

Thanks ladies! I'm gonna see if I can find nylon spandex in the right shade of green here!

Tiney, why'd you choose to use a flight suit instead of making it from scratch? Just curious, because I'm sorta in that dilemma now. I'm leaning towards getting a tailor to make it from scratch, but I have to admit that its quite tempting to use a flight suit that already has existing laces.

Btw, I found a good tutorial online for Amber's makeup. Haven't tried it yet, but its looks pretty good!

PS. I tried PMing you Vasarian but the system doesn't let me!

It may be a good idea to get a tailor to make this for you if you are stuck. I can tell you that it was not easy sourcing all the findings, fabric, trims and zippers at the right length. But as the patterns I have posted at the instructable, it is not a lot of pieces. So it would be a challenge but not impossible ;)

That's strange you can't PM me..... If you have further questions about this costume, you can email me @ bonvogue at gmail dot com

One of the reason why I went with the flight suit is because I didn't want to deal with the lacing. The real clincher was a good friend of mine (amazing seamstress) told me how she put together a quickie Amber outfit for another friend from a flight suit and how it all seemed to click together when she was deconstructing it. So it seems like the original was probably made from a flight suit and I want mine to be as accurate as possible because I'm neurotic. XD

Hey Scruffy Rebel, I think we've got a Blondie. You know Cynthia, Bryan/Indakin's girlfriend? Yeah. ^_^

Well I've finally decided to come on and make my presences known! :) Hey yall I'm Cynthia, or Cyn (it's much easier ;) )!

I've just completed about 98% of my costume! Good lord it was a lot of work on behalf of my friends (who are amazing seamstress and costume extrodinaires!) Thank god I had been ghosting this thread for quite some time to help assist in the different parts that make up Blondie!

I absolutely love this character, she is super fun and the costume is FANTASTIC! I am currently waiting on my gun holster and my tomahawk holster to be made and then I shall be finished... almost!

Anyways I'll post some progress pictures when I get a moment... I am very very excited to be apart of this Forum, and can't wait to see what the other gals (and guys) have in store!

Much Love!
