Sucker Punch costume thread

Spindrift -
For the weapons - I have a line on Sweet Pea's rifle and shotgun in airsoft form. The only complications would be the add-ons (red-dot sights, supressors, lights, etc). These should not be a big deal in a con (unless they're uber strict, which SDCC is not). The sword on the other hand.... if its a real sword you have to have it "peace tied" which means its affixed in a scabbard so you can't take it out. Because of this, I think I'm just going to cheat, and just have a handle sticking out (and probably make it myself)

Hey you said you have a line on sweet peas shotgun in airsoft form? Can I have access to that line too lol

This thread is great! I have to admit, its helped me a lot in the last week with Constructing babydoll!

I know someone had mentioned earlier needing charms for babydoll's pistol. I have my own jewelry site where I sell the whole set, or if you'd like individual charms as well:

Babydoll's Pistol Charms by oiiseau5 on Etsy

Prices will vary if you're looking for separate charms! And I'm pretty quick with making orders & having them shipped out as soon as possible!

Hey fellow Sweet Pea ladies!

I'm 99.9% sure I've found her gloves. They're definitely real similar up top, but they'd need an addition on the wrist to be 100%. And appropriately enough, they're by the brand "Harbinger". I got a pair on eBay, and there are plenty of others available in many sizes.

Here are a few auctions:
Small size

Medium size

Large size

I've attached pictures of her gloves from the poster (you can even make out the blacked-out embroidery of the brand name and the cross) and the un-modified Harbinger gloves for comparison.

Hope that helps!

Amazing!! Thank you so much for sharing! :love

Hey guys, I've found today photos of the original costumes.

here's the web, they are blondie's and babydoll's, but they will be posting the others.
These are very good references, specially for blondie's.

Nice shots. I've been poking my head in on tis thread for the last couple of weeks keeping an eye out for useful stuff for a friend that's doing a Blondie costume. These are great as you can see it stripped down.
Also nice that you can see exactly what kind of fabric Baby Doll's costume is made from (silk noil for those with a less discerning eye Thai Silks - Fabric » Silk Noil » Raw Silk Noil, 45")

Looking forward to seeing some more great costumes from this beautifully designed film that I can tell absolutely nothing about from the trailers. :lol

I wonder which one of these 1911s is the hero (or are they both)?

^THIS^ one has more of a bright (nickel?) finish, as well as a flat mainspring housing (i.e., the back of the handle directly above where the trinkets are hanging)...

Where ^THIS^ one has more of a brushed (stainless steel?) finish with a more "traditional" curved mainspring housing.

Oh wow, Cereza thanks for the link!

Yeah the display gun is most likely not the hero prop. It's pretty dull compared to all the other images.

Mule, I wish I'd known that before haha. Oh well, the denim I have will do.

Finally touched up my roots and picked up a headband, so I couldn't resist a test shot even though my outfit and holster aren't done yet:

Eee I'm so excited for this movie to come out. Can't wait to have the whole costume together either.

Now to get some leather dye on my shoes during spring break this week!

I'm really digging all the costumes and development i've been seeing in this thread! I've been excited for this movie for awhile and it's great to see so much progress! I'm absolutely enamored with baby dolls 1911. I've got the art book on order but it won't come till the end of the week. Is it possible someone can scan in the scribe work that's on the slide of the pistol? I dug up an old airsoft 1911 that I bought from Sports Authority some time ago. It's a tanfoglio witness, and it was pretty cheap, around $15 if I remember. Best part is is that it can be broken down to it's various pieces, perfect for painting! I'm going to be working on it tonight and hit it with some chrome. I figure I can print out the scribe work on some clear adhesive vinyl that I got laying around.

Thanks!

Thanks for sharing the link, these are just the ones I found when out and about but couldn't remember the brand name (already removed the name stitching)

Found some good gun options for Sweetpea here. I am still looking for some of the mods but might end up making them myself.

Spindrift - Yeah I know the boots are going to be hard for me (I wear a men's 10.5-11, and my thighs are probably bigger than your waist size) but any help is good help.

For the wig... I have almost-shoulder length brown hair... I'm thinking I get a haircut right before con, and get a wig. I talked to my hairdresser about it and she said that would be the best thing to do. I hate the way wigs look too, but hopefully I can get some help from friends that know more about that stuff than me. Plus, I'd only go blonde if it was because I was going to dye it a fun color later (which I can't because of work)

I think this weekend I will finish up my sculpt of the sword handle, I agree that it makes no sense (even just carrying the weight) to make the sword since I can't take it out. Heck in California they would get bent if you took it out on the streets just for pictures.

Going to be buying the guns from the site I found and work on the mods on my own probably.

I still go back and forth on the hair, because my hair is long enough and my hairdresser did say that I could go to blonde easy...I just would have to wait quite a while before changing it back. Eeerp.:lol

I just got a reply from Ryan Steacy, the weapons coordinator for Sucker Punch. I was incorrect. Baby Doll's pistol is a nickeled Colt 1911. Now to find the right model.

:p Yeah, yeah... but now to find which model Colt 1911....
Well, taking into account all we have to go on is that one little photo taken from the book, & also not knowing if they procured a new weapon to modify (as opposed to an older model from an existing armory), it looks like it may be a standard 1991 Government Model (if it's a NEW firearm). All of the structural/cosmetic details match EXCEPT that the screen version is a nickel (or bright stainless) finish, & has a beavertail grip safety, instead of the standard service grip safety.

If it's NOT a new base piece, it could be any number of [dozens of] models. :confused

Did he say whether or not it was purchased in that finish, or if it was plated for the film?

He didn't say, although he did mention that he didn't know who did the laser engraving.

I wonder if they just called up Colt and ordered it custom. The custom catalog lists all the options needed to go from an off-the-shelf Colt Government to the pistol used in the film. They'll refinish the whole pistol, swap the grip safety and checker the frame... pretty much everything needed for this pistol except the laser engraving.

Awesome. Thanks so much for sharing the link!

And you're so right: why go through the hassle of building the whole sword if you can't ever play with it anyway?

As for the hair, if you think you can pull it off, I say DOOO IT. ;) It's just hair; it can always be changed again if you don't like it.

Ahhh those pictures were awesome Cereza! I really want to do a Blondie costume now. *save save save all pictures!*

BABY DOLLS - what patterns did you use, if any, for your costume? I might not get this costume done by movie time, but I will certainly get it done before the convention I'm attending in April. :)

ALSO, I found someone on etsy selling Baby Doll's gun charms. I dont know if she posts here or if the link has already been posted, but here it is: Little Creations by The Bird & The Bee
Also some really other nice geeky stuff there, like Harry Potter related charms! <3
