Sucker Punch costume thread

BANG. :love

BA-BANG! :love :love

FYI:

Shipping Restrictions: California, Connecticut, Kansas, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New York, Puerto Rico and Wisconsin either restrict or prohibit commerce in imitation firearms that are replicas of modern firearms. We can only ship modern replica firearms to these jurisdictions under certain circumstances. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions regarding specific restrictions in these areas. Some states and local jurisdictions may impose restrictions on black powder firing guns. Please check your local statues to ensure the purchase of the products complies with any applicable laws at the point of destination.

Bringing one of these to SDCC is out of the question.

oh gosh, i hate you guys, one F5 and there're new things already ! I want one just for a replica/ collectible, not for cosplaying. but i¡m sure that if i try to do it, i'll screw everything up. btw Gorgot3000 you got it insanely perfect ^^

Does this include airsoft guns?

CA has some of the most restrictive firearms and replica firearms laws in the country. :sick It goes way beyond Federal regulations.

If your interested here are the official CA PENAL CODE regarding airsoft and fake guns:

CA Codes (pen:12550-12556)

As for SDCC, here is their official policy regarding weapons. However I've been there the last 3 years and from what I've seen these rules aren't strictly enforced:

No functional weapons are allowed at ComicCon International.
Simulated or costume weapons are allowed
as a part of your costume subject to prior
approval by security and compliance with the
following:

All costume weapons must be inspected at
the security station in Lobby E.

All costume weapons must conform to
state and federal law.

Projectile costume weapons must be
rendered inoperable.

Costume swords will be tied to your
costume in such a way that they can’t be
drawn. After each person’s costume weapon
has been checked, it is tagged by security
and you will be given a wristband to wear
to designates that your weapons have been
checked. Security will escort you to the
security station for inspection if your costume
weapon is not tagged.

If you do not want to have your costume
weapons inspected or tagged, or you are not
willing to comply with the foregoing,
please do not bring your costume weapons.

Arrrrghhhhh! I can't wait for there to be a back shot of Blondie! Geesh! I would have thought there would be one by now but nooooooo. I have pretty much all the bits in place now to start working on this but I don't want to get started until I can see that back shot.

I was watching a short YouTube video of someone flipping through the art book (haven't decided yet if I want it myself), and it looks like there are a couple of back-shots of Blondie in the art book, particularly at 0:12, 0:23, and maybe at 1:02. So if you can get your hands on the art book, maybe that will help?

Ok since no one can find the charms on babydolls gun I'm going to make them in sculpture class tomorrow haha i know there is a skull a bunny an hourglass a bottle and a bear, am I missing anything?

My first post, yay!

I just got back from Emerald City ComiCon where I debuted my Amber costume:

I plan on recreating it with better fabrics before SDCC. This one was a little bit of a rush job to have it ready in time for ECCC. I still need to get myself a holster, too. Found the exact one I needed on amazon for about $200 and that's way more than I'm able to spend, unfortunately. :-/

Can't wait to see everyone else's SP costumes!

That was you, Heather? Great work! I wish I got a pic with you. I was one of the many Batmen running around.

Nicely done! Can't wait to see what you do with the "better" fabric. ;) Will you be taking it to any other cons this year, do you think?

Oh and welcome! :D

I'd like to get a darker shade of green, maybe not just plain 'ol cotton, and find better cording for the lacing, something other than rattail next time. Also there's some odd puckering going on in the back of the jacket. Gotta fix that up!
I'll have Amber at SakuraCon and SDCC this year. :)

Heather, if you look at the first couple of pages of this thread, there are pictures from someone (blanking on the name now, sorry) who made her Amber costume by modifying an actual flight suit. Might be something to look into to get away from the "plain ol cotton" look? And depending on the whims of ebay, maybe even cheaper than good fabric, heh. ;)

I saw those! I've never modified anything before though, so that makes me nervous. Also I'm pretty petite, so I'm weary about buying that kind of thing online. Thankfully I still have my pattern I made for Amber, so I can continue to work with that. :)

Good to know! I ordered the book last week so hopefully I'll have it soon!

Rollerboi: thanks for the pic. As usual it's grainy and dark and of course the writing is over Blondie.....hahahaha but it is most certainly better than nothing so I very much appreciate you posting it! THANKS!!!

No, you're not missing anything ! Here are some photo of the artbook you might find interesting.

And here are some photos i could take from the photos of the con on november when i presented it. At that time there weren't many pictures. For exaple I did't know it was a hourglass u_u but now i'm doing it for a con in july. And the pink thing i also didn't know it was a baby bottle. I knew the other thing was a bunny but I dind't get to finish it for the con so I decided o use a white pearl xD as for the hourglass i used a blue one lol. I have to take proper photos to everything, but my costume is at my bf house x_x
