Sucker Punch costume thread

The gun i found is of course not real, but it is still made of real metal. I dont know much about nickel, but is it possible to nickelize it and then engrave? or is it not thick enough? i once engraved a zippo lighter cant it be done in the same way but with a gun?

still not having any luck with the charms, anybody having any luck digging them up?

I don't think you need to electroplate anything in order to have it engraved, so long as you already have the finish you want. What method did you use to engrave your zipppo?
If I get lucky and the slide is detatchable from whatever gun I get, I can get mine engraved for free through my dad at work, but a full gun can't be brought into a place like where he works lol. I really don't want to resort to the use of harsh etching chemicals (or paying $200 to have something engraved where I could have had it done for free :cry).

Well, for what its worth...

Plastic can be laser engraved just fine, its just if its any kind of styrene or pvc, its going to have nasty fumes (so you need to have really good ventilation). Most airsofts are made out of ABS (a type of styrene)
Most airsoft guns can be taken apart. Especially if they are nicer ones.

One thing you might want to remember, is that the laser doesn't really ad any depth to the engraving. Its more like an etch (thats if I under stand what kind of laser cutter your dad has) The sword looks like the designs were cut into the blade.

The gun though, it has black parts and white parts. I'm almost wondering if it would be better to do the gun design as a decal or sticker

And yeah, the book makes the designs REALLY easy. I'm almost considering doing Babydoll's gun just because I can.

To people that have the Art book, does it have any good shots of the Nazi guys? I'm going back and forth on which one I want to do, the guy with the cool mask or the standard soldier. I took a bunch of pictures at SDCC of the masked guy. I just want to know if I should order the book or not.

It does. And actually, they aren't Nazi guys (despite some of them having the same helmets), but WWI Imperial Germans. A bunch of the helmets with the spikes on them. Oh creative license.

There seems to be a bunch if different varieties, but it looks like the masked ones are "enlisted" (with WWII style helmets) and the guys with the spikes (officers?) don't have masks. There are different uniforms though.

Arrrrghhhhh! I can't wait for there to be a back shot of Blondie! Geesh! I would have thought there would be one by now but nooooooo. I have pretty much all the bits in place now to start working on this but I don't want to get started until I can see that back shot.

I think I may have one. I'm on my way home, will check my files after I get my kid to bed.

Hey everyone!

New to the forums...well as a poster instead of an avid follower. I am working on SweetPea for Comic Con and wanted to see what everyone else was up to.

So far I have the corset underway, have found gloves and the boots. (boots in picture) and made the thigh holster for the shells. The boots don't come up quite as high as I wanted to I am working on modifying them with a leather addition.

If you look at her thighs, the garter she wears looks like more a shirtstay like they wear in the military or on men's socks. Hunting for the right ones now. I am going to be stitching loops on the inside of the waist part of the corset to hook them to (So I don't pull my own undies off when running around!)

Here is my pauldron before it was all done. It is actually steel. :D

Will take finished pictures, it looks a little more battle scarred and weathered. :)

I also have found a couple of swords that would work with some minor mods, but I think I might just cast/mold my own for weight. Well, and for something that doesn't cost about $200!

Next up the harness. Anyone tackled that yet?

Welcome Spindrift! As another working (or rather, planning on working, at the moment) on a Sweet Pea costume, I'd love to hear any info you'd care to share on the gloves you found. ;) And your pauldron looks awesome!

Hey I'm leading a group who's doing all the girls and I'm gonna be the wiseman but I would love to see the schematics or a step by step of your pauldron build

Also does anyone know what uniform the wise mad is wearing?

Have you checked out the "Sucker Punch Annihilation" game? If you play as Blondie, it gives you a very vague/general idea of Blondie's back costume design. Although I don't really know if that helps or not.
Also, while I was looking around for Blondie references, I came across this collage and in the bottom right corner, there's a partial clear reference of Blondie's back.

This website also provides a few scans of Blondie and company:Vanessa-Hudgens.ORG Photo Gallery

I also found these really large HQ images of her costume:

oh gosh, i hate you guys, one F5 and there're new things already ! I want one just for a replica/ collectible, not for cosplaying. but i¡m sure that if i try to do it, i'll screw everything up. btw Gorgot3000 you got it insanely perfect ^^

Yeah I'd like to know more about those paulderons, and where did ya get the boots?

Snorlax - Wise man has a bunch of different costumes. If you're referring to the one in your avatar, its British (Welsh) and WWI era. I'm not an expert on that area, and I don't think they're going for historical accuracy though

Thanks lizard Jedi imma have a slew of questions for you cause you seem pretty knowledgeable on this subject haha for starters what is the hood/ corset called that sweet pea wears?

I also found this High Resolution image of Blondie, for a clearer examination of her costume:

Although photobucket down sizes it immensely.
