Thanks for the recap Kurt :D I too am really looking forward to getting one of these beauties.
All though I think I was the last one to get in on the preorder :p But Ithinkthe timing will work out just right because I should be done or just about done my Gunstar by the time this kit would arrive :)

Thanks again to all involved. Keeping the dream alive...

I don't mean to go off topic,... but.... GUNSTAR...

Chris...dude... would you mind showing that beastie in a thread? Or have you already started one?

Did ya enjoy the "memory lane" pics of the Desanto Viper journey? LOL. I had to not post 32 of them due to image regs on this board, but I think it showed everything well enough.

I imagine Michael and Terri are well excited to be getting these out the door. I am just waiting for the glorious post stating they've been sent. WOO HOO. Let's hope that is soon. :p

Thanks for those run downs thru memory lane.
But here are even more that I don't believe that I've posted anywhere or shown, so these may be fun for all to see.
Kurt....p.s. call me.

HA.. I think I actually had those in the Mem pics, but I already had too many and the RPF wouldn't allow me any more in that post. LOL... There were 32 pics I couldn't place in that post for length I guess... :confused

Actually,.. I don't think I do have the the wooden fuselage...that is a good pic for origin. :)

Okay gang.
I've got some strange (grey) and a few (black) Viper sets. They are casting from early experiments that turned out pretty good, as I was looking for a solution to paint, and then just scrape the panel lines. First come, 1st served on this. I can make more if some of you wish me to color theirs also. B)

I was going to show some more pics that Michael sent me of some of the DeSanto Viper's creation, but I'm running out of time and wanted to tell ya of our phone conversation now.

real quick...

1. He confirmed that Coby sent him 20 sets of Top Stabalizers, Canopies, Wing sets and guns, but states he has not recieved them yet. He stated that Coby is emailing him the USPS confirmation number.

2. He stated that he just finished casting 10 sets (front and rear) of fuselages and will have 14 finished by tomorrow.

3. He also stated that he is currently working on the rear engine "cans" using a mix for a 3 minute setup time on each.

4. He weighed an entire kit while I was on the phone and stated it was 4.5 lbs.

He lastly stated a confirmation of being excited to finally being able to get these out.

Kewl. :)

Good news.

Kurt, I'll start a thread soon....maybe today...for the Gunstar. The kit was a real mess, probably the hardest one I have ever built because of the poor quality. But, I think sh is turning out nicely.

Mike, what is the box like part shown in the parts pictures, can't figure that one out? It looks too big to fit into the cockpit.

Chris

No...EVEN BETTER NEWS...
Just recieved 19 canopies and 22 starboard and 22 port laser cannons.
No wings yet, which will hold up the mailouts just a few days longer.
It'll also give us even more time to make more castings and order more resin.
Here are pics and I'll say this, that Coby's castings are absolutely outstanding, and perfection.
Need wings. :D B)
Sorry, for some reason I can't post the pics so I'm sending them to Kurt, and our boy there will post them
so you all can see. :(

Awesome casting Coby. And very nice work Michael, I'm really looking forward to seeing some of these built up and future projects you're planning on.

I know how it is with a first kit, not knowing a lot of the skills required, not sure if what you're making will turn out good, nervous of what people will think when they actually get a kit. Then building things up in your mind to a point you're not sure if you can continue, knowing people are counting on it so you have to keep truckin'.

At least this one is over, now you have to start the whole process over on your next kit, but it'll go more smoothly next time.

Woo Hoo.... Great work Coby... Thanks Mike and Kurt..

Thanks for the thanks Chris,.. but... :rolleyes

:lol LOL... no need to thank me man... it's not my kit project, but it is Michael and Terri's with an assist by Coby ..lol... I'm just an excited buyer like you...lol. Those three are where the Kudos should completely lay when the vipers are all delivered. These will be kewl to finally recieve and I am just reporting what info I get from Michael on his progress so we are all on the same page. :p

Speaking of new info...

A few hours ago he and Terri (HI again Terri. :) )gave me an update... :thumbsup

1. Michael is casting the stabalizers and continuing casting of the thrusters.

2. He mentioned that the wings did not arrive in the package that Coby sent. I was under the inpression that only the canopy and guns were needed to complete the order so maybe Coby thought the same? Just a theory.

2. He is also casting the seats and cockpit instrument panels.

3. Lastly, he stated that he will be doing a build-up for visual instruction which I think he will be posting on this thread ...and... he has some colors to share regarding the new colonial warrior pilots. He says they are not the same color as TOS pilots.

Could you post the pics that I sent of all the vipers piled up? B)

Hey Michael..

Can you tell me what the discoloration is on the castings?

Also,.. being that it is looking like your a casting beast right now :p , are you able to give a ship date yet? :confused

I'd like to keep that a surprise...the shipping date that isl. I'm going to come on here in the next few days after recieveing the final parts from coby, and then tell all that such and such's vipers are on their way. That'll be an eventful surprise. :eek
Bythe way, I believe that with the unique way that Coby molded the canopies, the I can somehow figure out a way that they can actually with some minor modification, be made by the builder to ( slide forward ) like it was intended. :D
I'll try to figure out the way to make it work and post it here an the fleets. B)

Because I can't for some reason post any pics here, I'm about to start a tutorial over at the Colonial Fleets, on the pilot painting. I'll be including the color and numbers of them that we have chosen to use for the DeSanto production. :D

Attention ALL INVOLVED.
There is now a pilot color guide sort of a tutorial over at the Fleets.
It is very basic and with the proper colors.
Although my detailing on the face, eyes, and such are not picked up well in the photos.
This is the definitive and accurate guide to the pilot. But alot of you guys will take your time and really do a killer job on him. I took only an hour and a few minutes to painti this up for explaination. B)
Here's the link.
