Lol, you have no idea how hard it is to be as big a Trek fan as I am, and yet be prohibited from discussing the new film in any detail.
Just curious, do you think you're winning any friends here by CONSTANTLY pointing that out? If you really can't say anything, maybe you should do just that, and say nothing. yah, we all get it. You know something. Or at least claim to. We get it. I think you came to the wrong party if you think you're going to impress a lot of folks by telling us again and again that you can't tell us anything. Know what I mean?
But back on topic, I have to say that I'm TOTALLY on board with the folks that say it matters not what the ship, props, costumes, or set design look like. It will not be those factors that make or break the movie. JUST LIKE it wasn't the crappy sets, cheesy acting, and awful special effects that dictated the popularity of the original series. it'll be all about the story, and if we can connect with the characters. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE to see a beautifully designed movie with great costumes and actors. But if I'm not drawn into the story, none of that will amount to a hill of beans.
I have to say I'm also kind of amused by the folks that are condeming the movie based on a few photos, and what they've heard about how it's going to be. This same, tired old dance was trotted out when BSG started ramping up again, when Sarah Conner chronicles was announced, and any other number of really great projects that were pooh-pooh'd completely independent of knowing anything about them, or what the quality was like. i would have THOUGHT that a sophisticated audience like the one we have here would be a little more open minded to the new trek, but I suppose it should come as no surprise.
It CERTAINLY comes as no surprise to learn that micdavis has condemned it. But then, he condemns EVERYTHING

Myself included
