FE has been teasing their booth at SDCC on social …

Some new pieces that caught my eye include a Star Trek phaser rifle from the TNG/DS9/VOY era.

Also a set of BTTF time circuits!

I want to get excited about these, but some of FE’s recent pieces have shaken my confidence. Guess we’ll see…

Latest post included a preview of the First Contact phaser rifle, which will be limited to ~150 - "a couple of hundred pieces and priced at ~$3000-4000...oy.

Guess I'm sticking with my Rodd.com kit.

From that preview video it seems like the front section of the First Contact Phaser Rifle will be interchangeable. But given the many glaring errors in the Factory Entertainment Star Trek line I forsee more errors and at such a high price tag this is another I will not be buying. I will stick to my resin casts from the original molds of the actual props which cost me a fraction of the price of what will likely be another inaccurate replica.

I don’t get too excited by seeing booths filled with prototype pieces, anymore.

I can’t even begin to take the time to gather a list of all the times we’ve seen booths filed with wondrous prototypes that never end up going into production, from MR, to EFX, to Anovos, etc...

Cadet costumes?

I feel the same way. I saw another teaser of their booth with prototype TNG cobra head and SNW phasers.

And while I would love both of those, it’s hard to get excited given some of their latest Trek pieces. Here’s hoping though…

Sean

At least with the Cobra they'll no longer have the gray misted with silver paint job to screw up...

Pretty sure those Anovos Star Wars costume "prototypes" were all costumes owned by Jose and his friends, they were not "prototypes" in work.

I gotta say, anymore, anytime I see a licensed prop replica or statue of a ship from Wars or Trek or whatever, I ask myself, ‘can I model and print that?’ The hundreds or thousands they ask are becoming less likely to go to market I think.

Well see thats the funny thing and the reason I asked if John Eblan is making FE’s Phaser rifles

He is making their high end ships for them so maybe cut out the middleman FE and deal directly with John, a consumer might save some money that way

So is - essentially - the problem that Factory Entertainment is "idealizing" too much?

I just had the Moonraker space gun delivered yesterday.

Per their write-up, they added details seen in appearances of the prop in subsequent video games...

According to Dave Blass on X, he met up with Connor Ferreira, and introduced him to Factory Entertainment. It seems he's at least involved in the construction of the studio scale Phoenix.
