Serenity Catalyser

It looks a little like the "handle" on the screen used has just a tiny bit more curvature. Could be down to the lens distortion of course...

Alan, up until recently i was not really a Firefly or Serenity fan either. In fact the Mals pistol i am redoing is my first firefly prop. I liked the movie Serenity, but when i tried to watch the series it confused the heck out of me because the story line it didn't seem to mesh with the movie. I started watching it on tv when they did marathons and it just grew on me, this episode is one of my favorites. I still don't even have the DVD of the series. I want to get it on BRay.

I just got the movie delivered, and the series is still on the way. So I suppose its best to wait for the series and watch it first ?

It doesn't matter which you watch first. Neither one of them meshes with the other. They both have the same people and ship but it's like 2 different timelines or universes. Really odd.

OK, I'll wait for the series to arrive and put them both in a hat and pick one :lol :thumbsup

It does matter which you watch first.

Firefly takes place BEFORE the events in the movie. The movie has some flashback scenes - but takes place a few years after the events in the show.

Serenity was meant as a closer and an opportunity to tie up some loose ends.
Plus - if you watch the movie before the show you are going to have some large spoilers.

In the end though - it is up to you.
Back in the day I saw Serenity before I watched Firefly, not knowing any better.

Those seem like more than good enough reasons to watch the series first :thumbsup

Guess I'll just wait then.

Although there are anomalies created by the transition from TV-Firefly to Big Screen-SERENITY, there is definitely continuity between the events of the series and the movie.
I saw the movie first and was drawn to the series, which I prefer.
Some folks felt the series was too "slow" and prefer the bang-bang-bang forward rush pacing of the movie.

Some people just don't like Firefly/Serenity.
It all comes down to personal taste.

I'd recommend watching series into movie to better grasp the character dynamics,
but it isn't impossible to watch the movie first.

Do not watch the movie first. Just for clarification the movie takes place a few months after the series ends at most. Mal even says it's been 8 months since the Doc and his sister arrived on Serenity in the movie and they arrive in the pilot of the series. The series takes place around at least six months as established in the episode "Trash." So figure the movie starts only a few months later.

And yes!!!!!!!!!! You will have some serious stuff spoiled if you watch the movie first.

Plus, IMO only the series is awesome and wonderful and the movie is a bit of a let down. As mentioned it does not quite mesh with how the series leaves off and although the basic plot is good it is a let down IMO.

If you are looking for a new prop theme go ahead but be warned it's a good prop drug that is easy to get hooked and hard to quit.

You have been warned.

Hi Alan, I'd say wait for the series.
I watched it with my father and even he loved it!

Plus after having watched the series and getting used to all the character depth, the movie will gel better.

Also the movie throws a few curve balls and has quite a few surprises.

Series first, then movie. The characters develop over the course of the series.

Unless you prefer your stories Benjamin Button style :lol

Glen: really hoping you offer a casting of that puppy. :)

I received a valve from WCH. It was a bit dirty and greasy and had a bunch of sticker glue on it. I disassembled it and gave it a good soaking in the parts cleaner it cleaned up nice. Here are a few shots of it. To answer your question Warpig silicone has been ordered.....
