OK, Last time this went bad. Like i said i would do i have secured a valve for my friend and can give this info out. Sorry i couldn't divulge my info before but it is what it is. Here is the deal. The part you guys want is the
Janitrol 206-070-491-101 Mixing Valve
Part # D55D10
ALT # 206-070-491-101

This comes out of a Bell 206 helicopter and is used to heat the cabin area. They run around $35k new, $2k-3K in airworthy condition . I have been in talks with the owner of a shop that rebuilds these and he will hook you up. Info will be in the junk yard on how to get them. He will be dealing with all sales directly.

The one below is an airworthy part and is worth $2700. This valve was also rebuilt by the same guy and sold to the guy i bought it from.

Based on what I have seen in the "Interest thread" I have the feeling that we are going to see a repetition of what has happened when Howard posted the information about the Eumig Servomatic. Oh the fun of seeing the "community spirit" of a few members at it´s best ...

I am glad that ZK has decided to post this here. I kept out of his interest thread that went badly. After it was locked, I actually managed to dig my heels in and find the part myself.

For the record: I actually released all the above information on the prop yesterday on Fireflyprops before actually securing one for myself. I would have gladly posted here too as this is my main prop haunt, but I was afraid it would stir up trouble since the previous thread was so recently locked and I didn't want to seem like I was "throwing it in ZKs face", so I've been waiting for someone else to start a thread here before chiming in. (I just don't want people to think that I'm favoring one forum over the other.)

As I saw it, things got out of hand from several directions- tempers flared and things got very confusing very fast. Some things were handled clumsily and some accusations were a bit infair. If anything, everyone involved got a raw deal.

But it's time to move on. The discovery of this prop is a momentous occasion for Verse prop collecting and I hope that everyone that wants one can get one. It would also be great of someone were to offer castings.

ZK and I have been in touch with the same rebuild shop and I can confirm that they are friendly to deal with . A scrapped, unusable unit will cost a few hundred dollars, depending on how "complete" it is. The one I now have (hopefully) secured will cost me around $400+.

Honestly, I don't think the collectible value of this will ever be very high. Four hundred bucks is a lot for what you are actually getting. There is less interest in Verse props every day that goes by. Trying to get a run going of even ten or so Verse props is hard nowadays.

Unreal a found part cost that much! Firefly sure didn't do us prop enthusiasts any favors lol

As someone else described, it's likely it was just aerospace junk they bought by the pound from a scrap dealer. The prop people dug through it and found a piece that looked cool and shoved it in the hand of the actors saying 'here's the thing to use in that scene.'

Let me chime in and say that Zombie Killer has "never" been anything but a stand-up guy! He's given plenty, and never asked for a thing!
I don't know "squat" for Fireflea, but if ZK does castings of this thing, I might just have to get one!
Smoke 'em if ya got 'em!

Thanks and again, sorry it went down so messy yesterday.
That one on ebay is the one i bought. From what i have been told i stole it. The guy was asking $850 and i offered $500. When i sent Robert a pic of it he knew it as his rebuild and it is a functioning unit so he said i could get around $2700 for it. That paper attached to it is why it's worth so much. It's the certification to be returned to service. That and it's rebuilt. Casts are going to come BUT, i have to use a used housing to do it. I cannot mold this properly without taking it apart and if i take this one apart it is no longer an airworthy part and i would have to ship it back to Robert to get it redone for probably a grand. So i am not going to ruin a $2700 part. I will get a used housing and mold it. I asked him to see about some used fittings and solonoids too. This way we can put real fittings and solonoids on the resin castings. :love

Hey folks,

just a head´s up: Glen had set up a For sale in the Junkyard for real ones, but it needed to be removed.

You ask "why?!" The reason behind this is that he was so damn generous to hand out his contact for the originals, so interested members could have contacted the ... contact ... directly, who already had set up a list since he only has a limited supply but would look into getting more of those ... thingamajigs. But as it goes, we do not allow setting up sales threads for third parties and non-members. Sorry to be a spoil sport.

But the good thing I see coming out of this is that anybody who is interested now has to contact Glen directly to get the contact details ;) Unless he decides to post the details here in the main forum, but then I can see a debacle heading the collector community´s way, just like in (my fave) the case of the Eumig ;)
