I've been looking for it for along time, but I haven't found it yet.

It could be a composite part. I don't know if they cast these sub-assemblies, but the open end of the Tamiya Panzer III part wouldn't likely cast very well and might have been covered with something else to allow casting. The end looks like a separate part that was cut to fit.

I have no evidence to back up my claim, but I believe they were filled in and then cut for the y-wing, then cast to use for the Falcon.

There is also a nice rendering of the comlete assembly in Joshua Maruska's blog, which got me thinking in the first place. He just displays the assembly as a whole, so no hint wheter the part in question it is a composition with modifications or an original part.
No big deal, just thought someone around here knows.

That's why I was thinking the y-wing came first.

There are other Y-Wing subassembly castings on the Falcon, such as the Kettenkrad chassis, so, yeah.

I always wondered if they didn't glue some of these chrome pieces from one of the firetrucks to the back of the Ausf. M/N barrel mount greeblie for their master:

I believe it was the diffuser material that covers florescent lights in ceilings. But I'm not aware of anyone finding the exact brand of it.
