RESEARCH: X-WING CONTROL STICK

Thanks for posting BadCard, it's got to be an Elstree shoot for them pickups yea. I had half convinced myself it could be the LA side pickup.

Aircraft parts US side = 215,751 Results - Aircraft parts UK side = 13,624 results - lol!

Either way it's a lot of clicking !! "I've got blisters on ma fingers!!!"

Thanks Chris. Would it be right to then assume possibly 4 or more calculators in the X-Wing pit? One either side of the dash, one under the targetting computer and a made-up replica on the mock-up targetting control panel. I think this was a thread a long time ago, before I got on the RPF. The targetting control button panel must have been filmed at a different time too - pick-ups, etc.

I wonder if the Y-Wing stick is a removable grip for some type of launcher.

there's one more in the Falcon cockpit if I'm not mistaken

sorry to take the thread slightly off topic, I just always wondered what that was and now I know! Thanks for everything you do on here!

Hey SS!!! It sure is, I'd forgotten about that one - now I'm gonna have to find one of these counting machines. Cheers lol.

Wow! I have been reading this thread.
I am amazed how good you guys are at finding this gear!
Thanks so much for your efforts! and for sharing!
I know this info will help me make a more accurate version of this 1/12 scale X-Wing Cockpit, (possibly a 1/6 too)
I'm the midst of putting in the details on the consoles.
These are some older pics showing the basic interior panels

Crazy but I think the michell part had holes in it, didnt odiwan post a part peppered with holes?

I think the shape of the dome is spot on for the pulley pics he posted but I don't see the groove in the side. The holes in the domed part are a maybe, that first pic that Halliwax posted is the best and clearest and it does look like there could be something on the surface.

Another thing that is impressive about the clarity of these pics is we can better see some detail on the stick. The ribbed grip is more clear and some of the holes and pins are much more visible on the top.

The trigger cotter pin especially!

Looks like the far side has clear button lenses

I thought these were clearer then anything else, I haven’t done enough detective work to give any advice. But I did notice the rubbed grip section is pretty clear in that photo

It’s also clear when Luke is jumping out of the Xwing celebrating with everyone the control stick is not there

Those Falcon viewers are by Photax, the biggest and the smallest in that range. Both white I think. The larger sized viewer was then used in the Tie set, I use a medium size cos it looks better.

What is the exact model of those Photax viewer please? they have different name for the size?
Thanks

Thanks for posting them big pics Halliwax, 4K is great for boosting into usable brightness distortion.

Here's something that may be of interest, lightening them 4K pics and generally faffing about trying to suss-out the grip part - I ended up with a new theory. I wont comment too much on it just yet, so I dont sway anyone's opinion, but hopefully my digital noodlings will spark some new ideas. I've been staring at these pics too long and now my brain clicks into seeing a very strange looking grip so I need fresh eyes to check it out. Follow the pics from 1c, 2b to 5b.

What do you guys think?

I definitely agree with 4b showing that it is round, I think you nailed that.

5b in an interesting theory. One thing I noticed in 5b is there looks like there is something between the top and second fingers that I hadn't seen before. I'm not sure that it's anything, could just be the glove. You can see it in 2b,3a and 3b as well.

Do you think that the tube that we see on the bottom is attached to the bottom of the calculator? I would have to in some way I suppose, I just didn't think it would be that direct.

No you're right, my gut it telling me something is there. Also neat seeing the same tube beneath the calculator, making me think they dressed it with tubing, whatever the grip is, and the tubing stops before the glove
