Nike MAG replicas (V2 and V3 only)

It appears jjdelp is a member here. I am certain he can provide insight into effective ways of preventing the EL from breaking.

Here are the bits I used to smooth out the foam. Carbide bit and a carving bit. (sanding drum also works pretty well) Once the area was leveled out I hit it with a jet lighter quickly to get rid of the fuzz that the bits leave behind. Wiped down with 91% iso before glued. You don't want to get it completely smooth anyways, you can't see it once the clear soles go on and you need it to be roughed up so it adheres well anyways. The side soles I make are slightly thicker so the area can be sanded off, and when they are glued they will still be flush.

Well, i'm a size 13 (47.5 in EU), but the EL size list only goes up to 46. Should I get the size 46 EL?

You would have to ask this question of davidjones888. I was just guessing this could explain why he only listed the three sizes. I believe there was speculation the soles were produced on some models by reusing the same base sizes.

Not sure why anyone would want V2s at this point - the V3s are almost perfect. We just need David to bring the price down more.

David isn't gonna bring the price down to $300-$350 for nothing. That will take another seller coming along with a lower price to compete.

Until that time, I would be very interested in that upgraded V2 if it were a more reasonable price than $250+.

To those of you who wear their Mags regularly, I have read they cause your feet to tilt inward. Is this your experience? If this is the case, are high arch support insoles an effective remedy or what have you found that makes them comfortable?

Yes. The cause your feet to pitch inward. I haven't worn mine for more than a few minutes, but they definitely were weird. No clue about the insoles, but my guess would be no, they don't make a difference.

Suppose David sold shoes w/o electronics - would it really bring the price that much down? The electronics don't cost that might right? Not enough to warrant a 50% markdown. Or am I totally wrong here?

I hope he sells them, but nobody is looking at it from a business point. Why would he start selling a shoe that will take sales away from the $500 shoe he is consistently selling? (Other then him wanting to help us out) People would want them cheap too...and the first thing everyone will do is try to add electronics anyways lol.

I'd much rather see him sell them not completely glued together. Or solid white versions ect...stuff that will help us make the changes we want to make if he wont. Like him selling the EL panel, that is a huge help for us who are upgrading ours! Having more components like that will encourage the sell of his shoes, and open more possibilities for us.

I would agree with this assessment, need to factor the labor of installing the electronics in the shoes too (not much I assume). Doesn't seem to lower the price an substantial amount, certainly nowhere approaching half. The only thing that will lower the price is other vendors competing with the same product to capture consumer dollars.

Now selling straight components might very well do it. Like uppers not attached to soles?

Damn, that sucks. I did look at a bunch of pictures from the back view, and they do lean inward. An extremely high arch support insole seems like it would level it out on the inside.

Hi, I don't know for the soles, but if you make your mags, please document your work in a thread you'll sure find people here to help ;)

Ok :) Thanks RVLF and Cavx, I´m going to start the project but i will start first with the paper models and then starting to buy the things, but now i have idea how to make them :D thank you so mutch guys really precieated ;)

The V2 should have been released that way from day 1.

^^ Looks like @Jedifyfe 's first modded pair of V2s.

I used the same rubber (but with tints added) that I make my clears from. The rubber I use has a 15min potlife, after which it turns to a gel and then becomes really, really sticky. using a stick, I can apply it to the midsole and shape it. It still takes 6+ hours to cure and sometimes I have had drips but they are easily ground off using a rotary tool.

I also did my spatters the same way.

I did notice that they do seem to make your feet want to tilt in. However I put special insoles in them as I had with the V2s to make them more comfortable and to hopefully make the electronics last longer by reducing some stresses from inside the shoe. Don't know if you can get them whereever you are, but in Australia you can get them at Woolworths or Big W for less than $20. I figured since the mags were more than $500, throwing another $20 at them won't be a problem :D
The 'cup' shape in the heel seems to keep your foot more level, though still not as much as a regular sneaker. I wore the V3s around the house with the original insoles, then took those out and replaced them with these blue ones, called "Footcare ultra sport" and felt an improvement. Anyone smaller than size 10 1/2 can probably get away with the 'women' version - they just fitted right in to my V3 size 10 with no cutting. The orange ones (supposedly for men) needed me to cut a lot off to fit them into my V2's.

Yes I'd buy an all white set. Or a blue one like in your profile pic. There are a few nice photoshops out there. As much as all these other colours would take them away from 'the original' version, look how many colours there are of a Jordan 1 or something. And people still want the original. (it released last weekend, I think, but I spent my money on V3s instead lol)

Wonderful information! After thinking more about it, I will see if I can get some thick insoles to profile so that my feet sit level inside. I use Sof Soles in other shoes, just because they are comfortable as hell. They have sizable thickness on some of their models so there should be plenty of meat to whittle down to level. But, I have worn shoes that were absolutely too small just because they were awesome. So what's a little leaning gonna hurt? lol

im kinda against the idea of davidjones selling shoes with out lights
i mean
what is the point of that
the shoes are known for their leds
really
if anything
why not wait
and just buy some defective shoes at discounted price
im pretty sure people in the future might sell em if they ever encounter malfunctions
heck even david may be able to find scratch and dent pairs for those looking for a bargain

the shoes are already replicas, degrading them would just make them worthless

@davidjones888 how are the auto lacing shoes coming along?

I was really hoping that he was going give members here a price break. Does not seem to be the case. The discounts are the same regardless.

Oh, just your knees when you are in your mid 40s.
