Nike MAG replicas (V2 and V3 only)

Hey guys, i just wanted you to know that i contacted rephot to know if they were willing to make an upgraded version with customer's advices to make the replicas much better and they said YES !
The only thing is that to make an upgraded version they need 500 orders to put them on the rail.

So i am planning if you guys are interested to spend time giving them all the informations they need to make a "perfectly accurate and upgraded version" as Nike will probably not release the MAGs at 21st october.

Tell me what are you thoughts, should it be done because this time we will tell them our advices to make a version without any modification needed, ready to go and accurate to originals.

If they come out more accurate than the v2's, with all these changes/upgrades that you mentioned.....I don't see them having any problems reaching the 500 mark.

I've seen the Buzz pair and have to ask WHY? There was only 1510 pair of NIKE MAGs made. Why would someone destroy something so limited?

IfIf these more accurate shoes are made the shape of the midsoles will be the same as the V2s. The clear soles will probably be the same but Cavx sells accurate ones. You may be able to ask for the midsoles to be lighter in color though. Oh and maybe leave them without the splatter because sometimes they come with super condensed splotches. And using some model paint isn't too hard. One thing that is a small detail that could be added is that the ankle bubble for the LEDs should pop out and not be flush with the heel cup. But even if you ask for no electronics the bubble should still have the grooves cut out for the LEDs to fit into.

Klen, is it possible to ask for smaller sizes to be available with the upgraded shoes? The US 8s are to big for me. They feel like 8.5s.

Based on this chart, they are too big.

The pink card footprint (is that what they call the mondopoint?) I removed from my US8s measures 265mm making them 8.5 on the US M scale.

I also have a pink card from a pair of US11s which is 290mm or an 11.5US on the same line.

So yeah based on that, safe to assume the V2s are 1/2 a size too big all round.

So I did more work on my custom pair today.

I have slimmed the back of the V1 sole and hollowed it out. I also rounded the edges of the new thicker bubble, but made a hole in the plastic as I was doing this. I will have to find a suitable filling product and fill the hollow before I can mold and cast it. I have used the original parts as a base so the final part will have the 3 hollow groves for the LEDs to sit in.

Before I can mold the mid-sole, I still need to to shape it and will probably have to screw it down to a board to flatten it out. It is bent from me walking in the shoes. For texture, I am now thinking fine sand. If I cover the surface in a tacky substance like Vaseline, I can press the part into a sand pit and the sand will stick to the sides. The silicone will capture all the detail and final part will have a texture that matches the heel cup.

I will need complex 2 part molds for this as well as the heel cup, ankle buckles and LED bubble.

I should be able to make a start on the new soles masters this week as this one piece 3D parts is not really ideal here.

A quick look at the size difference from the original MAG to what my new letters will look like. The actual letters are being machined up now. These are a test pull I did from the other day.

Well, you all have inspired me to go above and beyond the V2. How far is yet to be seen. After a 4 month battle with China I got my shoes for $100. 1 shoe worked apon arrival and the other didn't. I received a 150$ discount.

I wanted to wear the shoes some before / if I ever decided to modify them but since the one shoe doesn't work I'm in up to my neck with 9v conversion parts.

Wish me luck. I hope I get them to look a 1/4 as good as all of you guys do.

This is from the working shoe. I started with it because the heel cup came off very easily and I decided to start there.

I have looked through dozens of pages but can't find the answer. When putting EL in the soles, are you guys putting them over the holes or under? If over how are you attaching them? Glue?

It is put over so it is the accurate shape. And super glue works fine to attach it to the sole. Just be careful not to get the glue on the front face.
