Nike MAG replicas (V2 and V3 only)

The other day, some one made a big deal about the modded MAG that wre themed as Buzz Lightyear from TOY STORY.

It seems there have been a few...

That I'm actually not too clear on. Tape is a possibility.

I used black electrical tape. Once in place, it disappears and can not be seen and gives a nice sharp edge the EL.

Do you happen to have a pic you would care to share? I was thinking about having vinyl cut specificallyfor the EL if I could find a good pattern. There would be a minimum (of course) but it's not a huge cost. Then I figure I can lay the graphic down and just cut around it for a perfect template.

Good idea? No? Anyone else do it this way or tried it?

I totally love the design of the last black pair you posted but to doing this to an official pair knowing the price of it ...
What i would have done would be the swoosh, EL panels and strap logo with the same color as the Nike footwear logo on the movie's shoes bag.

But i'd give slaps to those "BEEP" who mod official MAGs!
It's like turning a Delorean into a Knight Rider car ...

Just for my knowledge guys is there any difference between :

and

Thanks for your help ! :p

I don't have a photo of the tape but used standard black electrical tape which I cut a small bit off the end (length was the width of the gap I needed to block) and folded the ends around the EL to make it neat.

Here is the actual template I used for the US13 shoes. You will need to mod it for smaller sizes. I will post a new template when I get around to doing my US8 pair.

Your welcome.

I think this is one version I did for the US8s.

These are v2's, right?

They are, but it's shows how well done they are that you have to ask to be sure. I think these are cool, but I like JF's Bobba Fetts a little more.

I've even seen some modded v2s on toaboa. No change to the electrics, but they had done an Iron Man paint scheme with an airbrush. Looked decent, but they were asking over $750 for them.

They are done well. I could only tell by the collar and where the collar meets the upper.

I was wondering what kind of glue was used on these, a black one or transparent ?

These look great now. How super hot would they look with a yellow version of the outrigger ;)

I bought translucent Red (made a set for Taff83 a while back), Yellow and Green (I also have blue and black - a very low black tint looks hot BTW). The idea was to mix a little bit of each colour (Red Yellow Green) into 3 small batches of clear and fill the slots on the inside of the LED bubble, then back light that with white EL. I'd probably place a hole punched filter over the EL first to only allow points of light to come through.

Given a study showed EL lasts much longer than LEDs on the same power supply, having an EL version of the LEDs is quite appealing. It also takes the complexity out of having to add resisters etc.

The wiring is simplified as well now because the one wire running done the inside of shoe can provide power to both the soles and bubble instead of needed two - one for LEDs, one for EL.

Now that I saw them i have to make these, they're so much perfect with this style that people who don't know BTTF2 could think they're the last fashion shoes released by nike. :thumbsup

Jedifyfe did you have to remove the black/gold paint on the midsole before to dye the shoes ?

What color did you use for EL panels and LEDs ?

Did you not paint the swoosh and MAG logo because it's hard to remove the stock paint to add the color you did put on midsole and led bubble ?

Thanks for your answers :)

Just letting you guys know I found a great seller for V2's on aliexpress. I chose dhl shipping for a little extra and they came in 4 days to uk. Box had crease marks but no damage. And seller marked as gift and put value as $20 dollars. Not sure if you like people posting links to sellers but if its not a problem i'll post it. Otherwise inbox me if you'd like to know.
