Nike MAG replicas (V2 and V3 only)

Sexy. Well done.

Yeah I agree that EL is too fragile for wearing the way we expect to be able to wear our shoes.

What about casting a flatter flexible part that is the same shape as the EL panel? Kind of like the way I did my GITD kits?

Mine are poured flat and are less than 2mm thick. Mine have Glow powder added, so are not clear, but as a diffuser with LEDs, this might be viable. Especially if you make one side frosted. You'd probably get away with a single, super bright LED.

I actually have some glow in the dark powder which is a VERY close match to the actual EL panels on these V3's (see pic) Its strontium aluminate based powder, which is some of the best I've found (and unfortunately the most expensive Ive found too lol) The initial brightness is brighter than EL panels, but that doesn't last for more then a few minutes...and its downhill from there. However, this stuff will glow dull all night long. I bought it to do a custom pair of V3s hopefully, I want to do the soles completely glow in the dark like yeezys are lol. Wouldn't have to worry about glow in the dark domes breaking though...would be nice haha.

So how long do your new water clear soles last until they turn yellow when in direct sunlight for a very long time? Also what sizes of V3 do you make the soles for?

If he is using the same type of polyurethane I use 9and I think he is), then these should stay clear for a few years. The rest of the shoe would fade and die if you left them exposed to sunlight for long periods of time.

The test I ran was a sample that I left in the garden in full sun for just over 12 months. It went cloudly, but didn't really turn yellow. There is a slight colour change, but way less than anything we have seen to date from these shoes.

My current pair V2s are almost 12 months old and are still clear.

Nice. My 1KG bag was $127. It is CYAN in colour and as you said, super bright for the initial run. It fades quick, but glows dull all night.

What percentage did you mix yours at?

It is supposed to be 5%, but I have taken that to 33% with no issue (I did tests to 50%, but it does not pour) and it glows really bright then. The problem is, I had to mix blue into the rubber so it would not look like custard when not charged.

At 33%, it light sensitive. Just the light reflecting off my projection screen is enough to make the panels visible in the dark. The LEDs on the car headlights charge these to max brightness in 10 seconds.

What I am shocked about is that sites like DH Gate are trying to flog the V2 off as a V3. They use RD images and then once you click to place an order, you discover they are nothing nore than V2 that are way over priced.

"Living pair" is a bit is stretch to describe the auto lace shoe. They sound like a "dying" cat.

Yeah, some of the dhgate sellers do that. But there are a lot that don't.

Basically, I just assume the shoes around $200 are gonna be V2. And a quick check shows some sellers are getting those down to around $175, so maybe V3 is finally pushing that price down.

The round sample part in this photo has been outside all day every day for going on 2 years and its still water clear. It has the same UV inhibitors as the rubber I use, just a different hardness. I haven't seen mine go cloudy yet, but I have read they eventually can. But yea...that's if your shoes were outside all day every day haha I am still checking sizes, but right now I know these fit 10 and 10.5. It will probably have to be done by measurements because I have seen inaccuracies in the actual sizing of these shoes. (Either that or I have received a mislabeled shoe)

I always go as thick as I can, I normally just coat my molds with it though very thick like paint...then go back and fill them up with regular material. Cheating I know lol saves a ton of glow in the dark material though.

The cheapest V3s I have seen on line are $400, which is great. It then just annoys me when I find V2s for the same price.

Interesting that the shoe itself does not have AIR anywhere on it. They even made a special version of the NIKE/SWOOSH logo that incorporated both the NIKE/SWOOSH and the word AIR. You will see this on some retro shoes where this new logo was embroidered onto the heel.

I always associated the word "MAG" as the model name, such as the "Roshe" which also doesn't have air.
The Air Max 90's might have been the kind of combined logo you were thinking of? It's a rubber panel sewn onto the heel.

I got some clear soles from Cavx. The clear soles are wearing away faster than they're turning yellow. Unlike the original soles. :)

How old are they and how worn down?

Prior to these molded logos, these were sewn in. If you watch the 1990 TOTAL RECALL, Sharon Stone's character has some sports shoes on with this.

At least you know how to avoid it. Imagine all the people who pay that price every day and have no clue.

Speaking of V2. I kind of wonder if anyone has ordered a V2 lately and gotten a V2.1. Still interested in that new model. Especially if V2 are now gonna go for around $175.

I haggled back and forth with Martha and agreed on a price of $120 for a replacement pair, not including the box, shipping fee's including in the price. Good deal?
if you get to keep your first pair then you will cut your losses by selling a pair. That's not bad at all considering how many people will be willing to take some broken mags w/o a box off your hands

Guys i need some advice. is it just me or are the EL pannels very dim on this pair ?

they aren't on and neither is the strap I assume

The fact that they'd even send those QC pics is kinda insulting..

Wonder how much someone would offer me for the pair of Mags with the EL issue on the right shoe. Lights still work when the shoe is planted on the ground but when I lift my foot it goes out. Easy fix for some of you probably.

You could sell it here but you could probably sell it locally and get a lot for the pair too. Ebay is kind of iffy I don't think it is right to sell them on there because most people don't know it is a reproduction/replica but I guess it can be sold there too for a reasonable price not over a grand for some V2s like scammers are doing but you get the point. People will pay for the convenience of not having to send money to China for a replica
