Nike MAG replicas (V2 and V3 only)

Last time I cleaned all the white parts of my MAGs, I used acetone.

Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk

It was literally stripping the outermost surface. If you want to repaint shoes, acetone is how you prep. Or you can use the polystrippa to do it super fast. But make no mistake, acetone and astringents will eat the surface of plastics and rubber.

The following Nike talk thread has lots of good stuff on cleaning, and these guys are stupid anal about their shoes. YMMV

Good luck! Lol if I ever get these, I wouldn't go anywhere with them before putting on a nice layer of Crep Protect

+1 lay down the protective barrier, and you can deal with life happening to them. An ounce of prevention and all that whatnot.

I wore mine out for a good 30+ minutes or so.. No problems with the EL's yet... Going to wear them out Saturday night so we'll see what happens!

People will be taking pictures with you! I wore mine without issue either.

Funny you mention that.. I was at Footlocker and this guy was showing me crep protect but wasn't sure if I could use it on these! I'll go back this weekend and grab some of it :) Thanks!

Yeah man, lots of people were staring haha, felt like a celebrity.

Can you imagine what it was like when I told my wife I'd bought a pair of RDs. That was a fun few days..

I actually might know a thing or two about that level of reaction. I have another obsession that has me buying rifles that cost stupid amounts. My wife is accepting to a point:)

Here is my review of the Air Mags from @davidjones888. I would contact him directly when you hit the point of no return and cannot live without your pair! Shipping was lightening fast, and communication was way above what I expected it would be. The product David is offering is undoubtedly better because of the input from members here at RPF. It is a wonderful experience being able to read and share thoughts with everyone also smitten with these shoes. Thank you all!!

The outer box is gorgeous. The yellow shoe box is heavy, solid, and extremely professional in appearance. David and his team out did themselves in the replication of the 2011 RD release. The magnets are present, securing the top of the shoe box. There is a very respectable attention to detail! I can totally see how there will be a problem with less than honest re-sellers passing them as RD 2011 on fleabay.

Here is how they came packaged inside the box...

While I failed to snap a picture of the shipping box, here is a couple observations on the topic. There was attention to internal packaging to avoid any in transit damage. I was very impressed with the condition in which they were received. The outer shipping box was a perfect fit for the yellow shoe box, and any scuffs or dings were relatively insignificant. I could see the chance for box damage to occur if a shipper were to accidentally drop the box and it landed on an edge/corner. A recommendation would be to sightly oversize the shipping box, and buffer the inner box with some of the bubble wrap. This would require larger shipping boxes, so it may or may not be practical to make such a revision.

I would call this the "Shut Up and Take My Money!" shot...

They're plain sick!!! 10 year old me is flipping out. They are everything I ever imagined they could be, drooling while watching BTTF2. The textures denote quality, strength, or having been produced by the same manufacturing process any other shoe might have been assembled through. I have to assume the materials included are the same in attribute to the 2011 release, but even if they are not, they are professionally produced. To nitpick the interior of the box, again not knowing how the RD were assembled, the foam cut-outs are loose. I could see some spray glue would make them solid and not fall out of alignment. The cuts to the foam lining reflect precision, so it is a shame for them to not maintain their shape.

This was about the moment that my wife started rolling her eyes...

These. Are. The. Heat. There are no if, and's, or but's about it. Others have described them as a lightweight snowboard/ski boot. I don't know if that is how I would capture their feel. They do not occur to me like that other than the point made about how light they are. That are seriously light, unexpectedly light. I did not notice the "pronation" or inward tilting of the shoes. The tilt may very well be there, but I will be mindful of that possibility as I wear them more. I find they are super comfortable! While they may be more bulky than other shoes I am used to wearing (I.E. some random sneakers), they are not bulky in a way I would call a ski boot. There is some "squeaking" to them; think of the sound that occurs when sitting down on a vinyl/leather chair. That can be remedied through a light application of baby powder. The ankle straps are super tight to fit in their buckles. The plastic tips on them aid in threading them through the loops. Like @Jedifyfe pointed out, the charging port is a bit tricky. I believe he suggested using a headlamp to make sure your angle of entry is correct, and I have to agree with that suggestion.

Pull out your pants pockets. All kids in the future wear their pants inside-out...

The ELs look great in indirect lighting. Outside in the sunlight, they do not show up much at all. I panicked for a moment thinking the lights failed. The ankle LEDs shine bright regardless. I do not see there is any real difference in the brightness of the straps and the soles, so they may have addressed this. Unfortunately, my additional EL panels did not come with my order, but Rebecca on David's team was almost instant in her response. She assured they will ship out when ready, I have zero concerns. I would say they do fit true-to-size and are near identical to the interior space of a Jordan V. My pair are US 13's, so I am optimistic that my pair has more room to allow for movement. That extra room might protect the EL panels from breaking. Even if they do, I believe David's team would help to remedy whatever needs to be done. The point of me getting the replacement panels was to prepare for that eventuality. Frankly, I am liable to have @jjdelp swap all of the electronics so that I can do any number of cool things.

My post with my QC pictures provides more detailed shots, so I am not trying to overload this review with redundant photos. I would say of the observations based on my QC pictures, the spot at the ankle is a glue spot, and the "scuff" on the letter I in the Nike on the heel turned out to be over-splatter from the turquoise paint...nothing a little Angelus can't fix. There were no other real shockers that I was not prepared for having reviewed the QC. I bought them to wear, and accept that wear and tear is going to occur. Now, if only @cavx will get me my Nike Footwear Bag and some Icy soles;)

Overall, I am more than satisfied with them. Because of my experience this time, I will buy more from David as developments in the model occur. Please let me know if there are any questions I may be able to answer that will further your understanding of them! Cheers

Ok. Just paid. When do I give him the tracking #? I emailed all the other info it said to on the webpage. Used money in minutes so hopefully it's there soon.

Nzfly awesome review brother. By any chance did you change the orientation in which the shoes come inside the yellow box? I ask because they usually come positioned wrong - yours are positioned correctly.

Thanks, man. Can you help me understand exactly what you mean by how their positioned?

Good review man! Do you charge them while they're on or off? And how long should you leave them plugged in for?
