Hello. I have looking at this site for about a year. I have been doing the cosplay thing for about three years. I have been trying to challenge myself with each build. I started off as a Star Fleet Medical Officer then jumped to the Riddler. Last year l did Mysterio and am currently working on a Jim Lee Cyclops. I finally joined because I am hoping to get some feed back and maybe meet some other Cosplayers.

Hi, thanks to this site I have decided to finally build my first costume for Comic Con next year and cannot wait to start building. I have decided to mash up my two favorite Marvel characters into one suit! I'll keep everyone posted on my progress. Almost forgot to mention I am doing a Deadpool Iron Man suit and a Captain America/Iron Man suit for a friend.

Hello, forum.

MadDogTannen here. New to therpf, new to prop/costume making altogether. I guess you could say that at 30, I needed a new hobby.
I'm a musician with road experience, who married a year ago and is settling into the family life. I can't complain.

My focus here will be mostly BTTF items at first, and as those are highly posted about and well-documented, there won't be many "no0b" questions for anyone to see.

What some may find idiotic, or interesting, is that I'll be recreating "scaled down" costumes in a cost-effective, but *as screen accurate as possible* way for my two boys, 8 and 10.

This year, Oliver (the 8 year old) wants to be Deputy Barney Fife from the Andy Griffith Show, and Lucas (10) wants to be Marty McFly. So, let's talk about McFly for a second.
I've found many very useful posts and threads here, so let's skip that and just say that I'm making a screen-accurate 1984 Mexican Special Edition Guess Marciano Denim/Chambray Airman Jacket with the Paisley cuff and Hollywood Stars collage liner. I'll be doing all of this with Guess approved fabrics and buttons, so essentially it will be a Guess (much like Jackie O had her pillbox suit made in New York, yet it was still essentially Chanel by Chez Ninon.)

I'm having an impossible time finding anything comparable to the Paisley fabric, and to my standards, even the Magnoli reproduction falls somewhat short.

Anyways, thank you one and all for having me here and I hope to provide you with some enlightening posts in the very near future!

Hello everyone! I am Aeri from the Philippines. I have been cosplaying and crafting costumes for about 4 years now. A nice person suggested this page to me and I was happy she did :) I still have a lot of things I wanna learn and develop and I think this forum have a lot of talented people I can look up too as an inspiration to do better :D I may still be lacking some skills but i would love to share my works here too :3 very happy to be here! ;D

Hi guys,

I'm Logan from the souther state of Tennessee. I'm new to prop making in general. I'm currently in the process of purchasing all the tools I need to do foam armor and props. I'm wokring on making my shed a workshop for myself. This weekend I have plans to make a head cast to work off of. I'm a Skyrim nerd, my first build will probably be a Skyrim build.

In all the forums I've ever been on, I have never posted in an introduction thread ^^;;

I'm Dessa, from the Seattle, WA area. I've been a cosplayer since high school (next year is 15 years since graduation), although it's only been the past couple of years that I've really become serious, getting the proper fabric for the look/feel I need, rather than whatever I can come by cheaply. I'm starting to dabble in props a bit, although since most of my more recent cosplay have been tokusatsu, they have readily-gotten official props (Bandai of Japan has taken far too much of my money).

Greetings RPF, I am Mighty Matt of Atlanta, Georgia. I discovered RPF in search for armor to assist me with my costume. I got into cosplay around 2011 with my first costume as Barf from Spaceballs. He was well accepted at Dragon Con that year and I've been cosplaying every Dragon Con since. My upcoming projects include More Spaceball shenanigans and a League of Legends character. All will be debuted at Dragon Con 2014. I have a FB and a Twitter if anyone wants to chit-chat but for the most part I will be lurking here until I find which topics I'm most comfortable in here ^^

Hello everyone,
I'm Maxime from the Netherlands. I've been into costume-making for about 3-4 years now, but the costumes I have done before were mostly own designs. I've been lurking around on here for a while now ( I think I found it a year ago when I was keen on doing a Halo build, which I didn't do, eventually ) and about two months ago I decided on finally starting an Iron Man build. Since I'd seen all the impressive pictures on the internet and most of them were linked to theRPF I decided to give it a go :)
I'm halfway through on the helmet (using darkside501's prints) and starting the rest of the build soon.
After that I'd like to do some other Marvel projects (maybe Loki or general props) and maybe Lara Croft or at least a game build, but we'll see.
Stay awesome, everyone! Cheers~
Maxime

Good day everyone! My name is Christopher. I'll start off by saying I don't make anything myself (well haven't yet) - but have always been interested in them. Who knew there was such a large community for that. I have always been a bit more "geeky" (if you will). I love superhero movies, big harry potter fan (movies, with two crazy boys, don't have much time for books), thoroughly enjoyed the LotR movies, as well as other sci-fi movies (irobot, minority report, etc).

I want to get into costuming. Primarily for Halloween. I would love to go to DragonCon (live in Georgia btw). And I want to do kids birthday parties and charity events, as well as visit hospitals. My first project I believe will be none other than Captain America! I want to do the TWS suit. I like it better than TFA and I feel it'd be easier to pull off (then again, how would I know lol). I always hate doing things half-booty (not sure if the other word is allowed, I love parenthesis) especially when it comes to costuming. Wife asked why don't I do Bane from TDKR and I told her I would buy I would have to shave my head, she said "oh no" lol. One day! So with my Cap costume I want it to look as accurate as possible without breaking the bank, I know long-shot eh? I think I've found the suit and helm I want to go with, the helm being from a member here... I contacted rolo (whom i learned about from here) and the shield blank runs $245 shipped. After pricing the helm at $300 and the costume around $200 another $250 on the shield (not including materials) is a bit steep for me, so any suggestions are welcome!

I think I want my second costume to be either Batman or Bane. Then we will go from there...

I also do web and graphic design, not sure if trading/bartering is allowed here. But if it is, I'm all for it!!

Well that's a nutshell, happy to be here.

Hey everyone!

I'm getting into costuming as I'll be going to my first convention in a few months, and I've got two costumes currently being commissioned (NCR Veteran Ranger + Mass Effect N7).

I'm starting to get into making my own props, so I thought I'd make an account here! Pleased to meet you all.

Hello :D

I've been cosplaying and attending conventions for a couple of years and like to try my hand at almost anything. I've made wooden daggers, various costumes and my latest project is chainmail (which is coming on quite well).

I have so many gaps in my knowledge and I have some upcoming projects for myself that I'm hoping I can find some help with here.

Hello all!

My name is Amber, part of Firelight Cosplay (come see us at https://www.facebook.com/FirelightCosplay). I'm fairly new to cosplay, started with a couple of steampunk outfits about a year ago. Since then I've done Gaige from Borderlands 2, Magik, Mystique, and an original twi'lek bounty hunter named Rio Ca'tal:

On the table right now is a Zabrak Sith lord for my husband, Sailor Cosmos (to celebrate Sailor Moon Crystal), Maris Brood for the 501st, and a Deathtrap build for my husband.

Things I'm looking at working on is learning casting/molding, broadening the materials I'm comfortable working with (right now my go-tos are Sintra and craft foam), and tackling a build that's larger than either myself or my husband have ever attempted (Deathtrap is going to be HUGE). I'm really hoping to get some new ideas and tips on how to make my outfits of higher level of quality. Thank you all for reading and I look forward to talking with you all!

Hi!

Swede, new to cosplaying and making my first ever costume (aiming for completion by RingCon in Bonn this October). Well, I did sew a Sailor Moon cosplay for my younger sister, but let's disregard that for now. Currently focusing on A Song of Ice and Fire/Game of Thrones, but will probably move to other stuff as well in the future.

Nice to meet you all!

Hi all,
just found this forum and was keen to get involved instantly! I'm a student currently studying costume and I also own my own business selling geeky resin and polymer jewellery.
I make lots of costumes/cosplays in my own time and have won a few competitions for my work. Look forward to chatting to all of you, here's a few pics of some of the stuff I've done in the past :)
