Hello, people!
I'm joining RPF (initially) for cosplay purposes. I finally finished my first cosplay this winter, and I'm suddenly biting at the bit to keep going! So, of course, I wanted to start with armor. That led me to pepakura, which led me to the RPF! I'm a teacher with about 0 seconds of extended free time during the school year, so I'm looking forward to slicing and burning myself (read: making foam armor) this summer. After reading through 1 thread here, I was hooked. This place is amazing, and I look forward to learning from the amazing people here!

Hi Everyone!

I’m Yanja and I’m from Australia. I’m new to the prop building world and also to forums, so this should be a very fun learning experience :)

I’ve been wondering around this forum lost in a daze of amazing talent and awesome work, there’s so much to see and learn and I’m really glad to be a new member of such a great community!

Here’s to many new projects!
Cheers

Hello all. I'm not much for self indulgence. I wrote a short biography for one of my web site a while back (a suggestion by someone) and sometimes wonder if I should take it down. It always feels like I'm bragging...... But for those interested I have a history of working in clay and stop motion animation. I've worked on a few TV commercials in the late 90's and for Warner Brothers and the Cartoon Network. It was a blast, but I went my own way - creating a web site to teach the art instead of doing it professionally. The studio system isn't good for security as anyone who's been there knows. So today I work on a few web sites and sculpt (and animate sometimes) for people. I enjoy sculpting a lot and creating stop motion puppets when the need arises. That's really my passion. If I can inspire or teach someone a new thing - that's what makes it all worth the struggle. You can search for Zombie Pirate Tales to find my hobby animation blog.

Well, here goes.

I have been "Making" props since I was little. I have loved all sorts of different props, however I haven't really been all that serious. I have some ideas of stuff I would like to make as well as costumes I want to put together. I actually learned of this site from watching Tested and hearing Adam @asavage talk about it quite often. I thought that this might be the perfect place to start my replica habit. Now I just need to get my wife on board :)

Shows and Movies I like:
Firefly
Serenity
Star Wars
Star Trek
Battlestar Galactica
Sherlock Holmes
Elementary
and Many More

Video Games:
Halo
Call of Duty
Super Mario Bros
Assassin's Creed
Borderlands
and Many More

I'm interested in a lot of different things, but mostly I am familiar with woodworking. I'm interested in getting more into working with metal, but I just don't have the experience there. So there is my introduction, I hope to be fairly active on here and not just lurking.

Peace be with you all,
Korbis

yo i'm new but i've visited on and off for years. my only complete project is a classic spider-man suit but i'd like to learn out to make face shells and lenses too. currently trying to complete a spider-man noir build.

Hi, name because I adore Nyphadora Tonks from Harry Potter. Talking of Harry potter, I'm interested in making DIY props but so far I've only made a Hufflepuff emblem out of a belt buckle and attempted to make Butterbeer. My dream prop would be Dumbledore's Memory Cabinet with all the vials but even if Noble collection sold a mini version it would cost £1000000000 so I've tried to sketch a drawing of it. I most like the shape of the vials and the snowflake labels. Oh well, nice to finally be part of the rpf community.

Hi all, I've been looking to build an IM MK1 suit, so I've been reading the forums for about a month now, learned to use Pepakura, looked at different types of fabrication, cardstock, cardboard, foam, etc...

I'm almost done re-designing an "not so movie accurate" version of the suit in 3DSMax, I'll release the files when I'll be done, probably by next week! :)

Hey there fellow RPF'ers!
Mike here but I'm known as Peek73 here and on many other sites. I'm an older guy with a full time job and 4 kiddos. I've always been an avid Spiderman NUT and I've been in search for the most accurate Comic Style Spidey suit I could find. That lead me here. I'm not that good with computers, or sewing, but I think I'm pretty good at making props by hand. I mostly use wood and I'm pretty good with an air brush, old school I'd have to say. Love what I've seen and learned here. Glad to be a part of this site. Here's a pic of my first suit, I'm really proud of it. I know it's not perfect, but I'm learning. Hi everyone!
I stumbled upon this site whilst reading around the awesome game Metroid Prime and heard about an incredibly talented person creating her own Varia Suit which inevitably led me here. This site represents a huge community of extremely talented people. At present I'm yet to create something of my own (the best I managed was dressing as 'The Crow' a few halloween's ago...) but I see a lot of inspiration here.

Happy building!

Hi all, name's Feriel.

I've joined because I'm in the process of making all the associated props and accessories to cosplay the newest version of Lara Croft at a gaming convention in October. I have been blown away by the quality of the work of people on here and look forward to learning a lot from everyone!

Hi!

I've actually been on here quite a few times and have made a few posts myself, huge Spidey fan and am just marveled by all the suits that's been made dedicated to him. I've also joined considering that I'm in the process of re-creating my 2013 Spider-Man Halloween costume. After that build, I'm hoping to finally crack my neck and start my very first Iron Man suit.

Hello!
Long time lurker, first time poster here - I've done miniatures painting and some scale modeling for awhile, but I'm starting to transition from commissions to getting started on replica prop building myself. Right now, I'm mostly focused on anime & video games, partly since there's so very much good work already done by you guys on TV & movies! I hope I can contribute to research, at least, while I'm here!

Hi everybody. I have been recently lurking here, but have been a member of thehunterslair for some time. Figured I would join this one too. I really love the work I have seen here and camt wait to showcase my own.

Hi im stigmorgan. Recently got into comicon which led to a desire to join in the cosplay. I couldnt find anything affordable that I could wear then came accross pepakura. I'm in the process of iron man mkiii but found a batman iron man crossover on here recently I would love to have a go at.

Hello to all!
I came across this site via a professors in class speech about how great and useful this community is for Special Effects/ Props.
So here I am, inspired and ready to browse around and eventually finish a handful of my own projects.

Hey everyone! I'm really looking into getting into prop building and Im looking to build a Tom Servo kit someday soon! also Ive been a long time lurker so I finally decided to make a profile.oh also I collect military stuff. Hope to get building soon!

Hi! I'm Matt. I'm actually brand new to the costume stuff since i'm trying to get together my first cosplay but been a big fan of cosplay for a few years. My first venture into cosplay is to be Dallas from the Payday series of video games for a local con in my area next year. I recently went to my first con and it was quite the experience for me. I didn't cosplay then but it definitely inspired me to give it a go.

I actually just found out about this forum via searching for opinions about Costumebase. Didn't get the answer I needed from Google or here but I did find an educated group of individuals. So this should be fun.

Hello,

This site is awesome! I came across it by researching an Arrow costume I'm putting together. I also just went to my first con and I'm looking forward to getting my costume together for next year. This site had a lot of good information and I'm so glad I found it.
