Hello All. I've been lurking the forum for about a month and just joined. Glad I did. Seen a lot of talent and have been very impressed. Stumbled on to this site when I started looking for a realistic Spiderman costume for my 5 yr old's birthday. We tried one of the cheap costumes before and he immediately knew I was an imposter. Anyhow, I'm based in NJ and work in Corporate Finance. I'm super boring by day so perhaps I can be a little more exciting behind a super hero costume.

Hi. My name is Katie. I'm from Louisville, KY, and I like to consider myself a total geek/nerd/whatever you want to call it.

I mostly knit what I make. I'm into Doctor Who, so I make a lot of things from that. Not the iconic scarf yet though. I've made some sonic screwdrivers though. I've been making some gloves based on the ones in Legend of Zelda that Link wears. I've got those in my hand right now.

Hi my name is mike, im just getting into pepakura and am loving it. im a huge comic nerd and have 3 kids that love comics also. i am currently building a death stroke helmet as per my sons request. hopefully ill be able to post a picture soon. any tips would be great, and pep files (of anything ) would be awesome. thank you.

Hello, all! My exposure to costuming stems from my parents, both big historical reenactments geeks (mum a former pro stage costume designer). I love the little details in costumes the most, which is what attracted me to the RPF. I'm so looking forward to getting to know some of you all and learning some new things!

Hey! My name is David and I'm from Virginia and I'm glad I finally joined. I would like to thank all the members that have shared their work on the forums to give guys like me a light in the dark when it comes to costumes and prop work. I'm interested in Star Wars builds as well as Marvel and DC characters. I'm mainly a Star Wars guy so I look forward to sharing my amateur work and getting feedback.

Hello everyone,
name is Pierre, i m french but live in Spain, i entered here looking for tips and ideas on building a mask ( i'm an airsoft player and got shot in the face several times over the years, and once got a bloody nose, wich is not the best way to arrive at the office on mondays if you work as a sales man)

I found so many wonderful masks and helmets and even guns from avatar (an old project of mine is turning a f2000 replica into a CARB assault rifle) wich is how I found this site: from a reference on a french airsoft site!
anyway i m very impressed by the skills of the people here and so i had to sign in; I only hope I can offer something to help the community.

If someone have the exact size and measurement (or pepakura files) for the carb assault rifle i m interested, If someone knows a good way to build a mask with glass protecting the eyes AND avoid mist or condenstion ( sorry for my english) i m very interested.
Thanks and keep up the good work!

Hi Gang!

Excited to join after lurking the boards for awhile and seeing all of your amazing work. Obviously I'm a big Batman fan & I will be posting some of my prop replicas and scale model Batman projects...

Thanks for having me!

Hi everyone! I'm brand new to the forum! I am from Texas and I'm a theater major in college. I love being a theater techie but I'm extremely new to the entire craft. I didn't discover my passion for theater until college unlike most of my peers so I feel like I'm a bit behind the curve.

However, I have always enjoyed making things. I never thought of my skill set in terms of props or costumes but I have been going to come since I was pretty young.

I'm currently the Props Master in a production for the first time ever and so far I am loving the job! This forum is great and I'm confident I will be able to continually add on to my skill set with the info I find here!

Hi! Finally glad to join as this place is a wealth of awesome costumers and prop builders. I'm from the San Francisco bay area and I enjoy sewing and creating costumes, I just can't seem to build props just yet.

Hi everyone! I've been visiting for months, finding out lots of tips and tricks, I thought I'd join to add my voice to the conversation.

My skills are - sewing, drafting, sculpting , digital art and design (2D with some 3D)
I'm learning - electronics and casting

My one weakness is starting projects and never finishing them. I have a half made Halo helmet collecting dust in the garage (to be fair, we've just had a super hot summer and my motivation to get suited and masked up was set to zero) I'm sure I'm in the right place to find my motivation again.

Here's a pic. My brother and sister helped me with the pep. We finished the HD version in a day :)

This week I've started an extremely ambitious project recreating the Vault 101 Ladies jumpsuit (put before the Halo helmet because I need the suit and a Pipboy finished in time for PAXaus in November). I have a strong background in textiles and I'll be drafting my own pattern to be as close to the game model as possible.

Next up - I'm going with a party of four to PAXaus in November, I'll be making outfits and props for three of us. This includes my vault suit, a vault lab uniform, "You are Special" skills book, Moira's repellent stick, Tunnel Snake jacket, another Pipboy, I have to style a greaser wig, invent a Misc. Raider/Wasteland 2 outfit and help my sister draft a Bioshock themed cocktail dress complete with mini big-daddy doll, medical kit handbag and custom printed textiles (illustrated by yours truly).
2014 is going to be busy!

Please keep me inspired and motivated! I hope some of my knowledge can be helpful around here, everyone is so darn talented!

Hey everyone, I've come across the RPF a few times over the years and have finally decided to register. My latest venture to this site was brought upon by the show Dexter and I have found an absolute gold mine of information and talented people here in many areas. I really don't have any experience in design at all but i'm never shy to a challenge and always looking to learn. I look foward to being apart of the online community here.

Hi there!
I'm new and really pleased to be here!
Since taking a bit of a break from my music, I'm once again really getting back into my props and cosplay!
So I've got a few ideas for my next projects and this is going to be great for me to document them!
It's awesome to see loads of people helping each other! I definitely think I'm going to need some pointers every so often!
Really pleased to be a part of this!
Cheers

Hey guys,

My name's Adam and I've finally joined the RPF after years of restricting myself to Ghostbusters Fans. I've been waiting to branch out beyond Ghostbusters and now I'm ready to do so (somewhat at least). Currently I'm about 70% of the way through a HUGE project of having a 1960 Cadillac Miller Meteor converted into a 1959 and then into Ecto-1 from my favorite movie. The car has been fully restored (something nobody else has ever done), and I wanted to focus solely on finishing that project, but I just couldn't hold out any longer.

I'm nowhere near as experienced at building things like a lot of you are, but there's always a time to start and the next matter of business is my second favorite movie prop of all time behind the proton pack - it's time to build an M56 smartgun from Aliens. I figured I'd join the RPF to network with others who have pulled it off because I'd love as much input as I can on certain things while the project unfolds.

Cheers,

Adam

Hello everyone,

my name is Nicole and I am from Sweden. I have been a member of The hunters lair for about 6 years now and have during that time also been lurking about on this site, but never joined. Until today.
Looking forward to dive myself in on topics here and learn a thing or two, maybe even start a topic of my own. I dont collect much props but I do like creating stuff by hand and I draw on my spare time. I have a DeviantArt account for those interested.

Now I'm off to a lot of reading, :)

Hi all...
I've just joined this site as I love movie props and memorabilia. I'd love to collect as much as I could, but unfortunately I have a girlfriend who doesn't share my interest and thinks anything I buy is a waste of money :(
My collection consists of a fan-made Darth Vader lightsaber hilt, a Rubies Supreme Vader helmet, two Stormtrooper helmets, a Neca ED-209 figure, various Michael Myers and Jason Voorhees masks.
I'd love to upgrade my Vader helmet to a good fibreglass helmet but money is tight at the moment.
Would love to have the talent to make these sorts of things myself, but unfortunately I don't....so I'm stuck waiting for deals to come along that I can spare some cash on.
I may try a few upgrade projects over the coming months and will more than likely need help from some of you on here.

Thanks,
Ben
