re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello all,
I actually just found this site this morning while searching for totally kick a$$ halloween costume ideas. I was blown away with some of the homemade costumes I've seen. I have been dyeing the past 2-3 yrs to find a real good Robocop costume. However, all I've found is an occasional costume on ebay that goes for $3000-$4000 and there's no way I'd have the money to spend on that! But I've always been a robocop fan, and I'd even pay big $ for one, since it'd probably be better than I could make! But I def won't pay $3000! Anyways, I guess I'm just gonna have to gather ideas from the website. Any suggestions/advice is welcome! thanks....

For the last couple of years, I've been working on a feature-length puppet movie, utilizing just about everything I've learned so far about fabrication, so I thought I'd post some of my work here.

Anyway, enjoy!

I like that! Cool bridge with your puppets. :thumbsup

Hello, my name is Crystal. I've occasionally lurked here, and I finally decided to make an account.

I've been making costume for a while, but typically I just do sewing work. I've recently started using more advanced techniques and working on my own props, and I'm really eager to learn about casting, sculpting, vacuforming, and latex. I typically make creations based on games, especially Metal Gear.

You guys do amazing work, so I hope to learn a lot!

Hi everyone. My name is Joe :)
I love anything and everything to do with Harry Potter and Doctor Who. I'm very interested in Harry Potter wand replicas... I would much rather make my own, which i plan to do very soon, because it is much cheaper than the noble wands. I have recently found a recipe to make modeling clay. I am in the process of making numerous Harry Potter items such as prefect badges.. If anyone has a picture of a Hogwarts prefect badge, please let me know.. thanks! :D

Hello All,
Let me introduce myself, My name is ShakedownKidd, it is an anagram for my full real name and does not have a movie or particular reference, though I have used it to sign some of my models for others. I have been building scratch built scale models for many years now. Mostly in model railroading but have built and modified some props for Halloween costumes. I found RPF searching for info on my latest endeavor a Cap'n Jack Sparrow costume and I have to say that there are some very very talented and creative people on this forum. I am so honored to be with such company and hope that I can provide some tips that I have learned through out the years. I am a big fan of The Pirate of the Caribbean movies and Star Wars and since lurking here and seeing the costuming... Alice in Wonderland, WOW! great work everyone! don't know if I want to be Jack Sparrow or the Mad Hatter now...No Have to stick with Jack since I have already started and that's quite an expense, thanks to RPF and KTTC with all the Sparrow costuming. Sorry to be so long winded, but so much to share.

Hello all, my name is DarkBebi. I don't know where to start with this post as first impressions are key in relationship building... Lol that sounded like a dating line. Anyways some of you may know my name or my avatar but if you haven't guessed already, I am Bebi/Baby from Dragon Ball Z so you can also tell that I am a huge anime/game fan. I live in Green Bay, WI and their aren't really any prop builders around my area well I guess you can blame the crack heads and pot smokers... :(. I have been a long time lurker on this forum and the 405th and finally got the courage to sign up, post and share what I am about to work on. You guys have such amazing talent that I hope someday that I can be as great as some of you. Thank you for your time and hope to see you guys around again.

Hello from the ATX.

Found this glorious forum while searching for Thor costume and prop tips. My 4 year old is going as Thor this year and Dad needs a Mjolnir ofhis own to toss around. Intimidated by the work i've seen here - awesome stuff.

Hi, I'm Zlosk. I'm an engineer by day, and dabble in various hobbies by night. My main hobbies are learning circus arts (4 yrs), making chainmaille armor (9 yrs), and homebrewing (13 yrs). Other interests that never quite hit "hobby" status but seem to show up a lot in my web surfing are robotics, programming, 3D modeling, puppetry, non-standard stilts (such as digitigrade), and costumes/cosplay, especially those dealing with armor or mechs.

On one of the chainmaille sites I frequent, someone posted the chainmaille Iron Man armor, someone else mentioned therpf.com, and so I started looking around. Now I blame you all for my lack of sleep, as I'm up way too late reading through posts and trying to learn as much as possible.

HI, Monk here.

Let's see. I'm a CG guy, film credits and a few game credits. Plus I build stuff. Electric vehicles, motorcycles, gadgets, widgets....

My present projects are (as of Sept 2010) restoring a BMW R75 and I'm about to atempt to build an ABC Robot puppet/costume. He's going to be huge and ready for Halloween 2011.

My primary income, (since I haven't moved from the Berkshires) is working as an arts tech at Bard College at Simons Rock and doing voice work on the side. The CG biz around these parts has dried up and moved West.

I take stuff apart, fix it and then build new stuff with random parts.

Why not build some cool movie stuff. (Plus I saw Star Wars 31 times in the theater when it came out in the 70's)

oh, and I worked for the company that made the props for Judge Dredd, Matrix, Dreams may come.. etc. So I'm hooked.

Monk
