re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello All,
Please bear with me, as I am not good at the whole introduction thing.

I am Viper486, also called Len, or simply Viper to almost all of my friends.

I'm 31, live in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, and am a full time costumer, setbuilder, propmaker, and arms consultant, and am lead designer for Pit Viper Studios, a propbuilding company I founded back in 2001.

A friend of mine suggested that I drop in and check out the forums over here.
Know a good number of the members here from other boards, and from the con's I hit with the Cobra group I belong to, Cobra's Finest.

I have been an avid costumer for over 10 years.

Past/Current costumes include:

a mid 15th c. English half-wit fool
a Medieval Friar
An early 16th c. German landsknecht (in full puff & slash)
Late 15thc German full high gothic combat harness
early 18th century pirate (with functional peg leg)
A Prohibition era mob enforcer
Fidel Castro
Cobra Viper
Cobra Viper Officer
Cobra Python Patrol Viper
Cobra Officer
Cobra B.A.T. (Battle Android Trooper)
and a post-apocalyptic marauder

Costumes in the works are:

Dr Fate
Cobra Bazooka Trooper
Cobra Crimson Guard
Custom Heavy Mando
Mortal Kombat II Reptile
Samurai Showdown: Kyoshiro Senryo

And a few other large ones that I'm keeping under wraps for now.

I guess that's it, feel free to drop me a line if you have any other questions.

Hey everybody.
I'm Carlos, from Chicago.

I found this forum while searching the net for information on the Scott Pilgrim and Ramona Flowers costumes I'm putting together for the wife and I this coming Haloween.

I work professionally as an Illustrator and the work I've seen on here is absolutely jaw dropping. I can't wait to contribute.

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Corsairgryl here, I've been doing costumes/props for about 6 years, LOTR, Stargate/Atlantis/Startrek, BSG & Firefly but like just about any genre bad guys. Favorite props made are bone ax for a Ghost Soldier, rawhide armor with decorative spine for Moria Orc & Iratus Bug for SGA wraith. The work here is amazing, I hope to learn a lot and contribute a bit...

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

I am a theatrical costumer in Halifax, Nova Scotia and I have yet to actually replicate anything from a show or a movie, because I do so much design work that I am usually too busy!

I dabble in millinery, am pretty damn good with corsetry and am currently in a build for a low-rent "Blink" inspired angel costume for a haunted hause.

You can check out some of my work on my <a HREF="http://s14.photobucket.com/albums/a302/jn932296/costume%20porn/">Photobucket album</a> but not everything is there... I should probably fix that...

I am planning on making Judy Garland's "Get Happy" costume for Halloween this year!

Hi all,

I am kinda new here, been on here for about 2 months! I have an authentic Chris Reeve SIII Evil suit, which I posted awhile ago, if you havent seen it: http://www.therpf.com/f45/new-here-i-own-siii-evil-superman-suit-93927/

Now I want to post my replica props that I have bought off of ebay!

This is one beautiful crystal I bought off of ebay! Really nice! I heard this guy made a bunch of them. Anyone know who it is?

I made these, they are acrylic, resembling the one in SII in the beginning of th emovie, when Zod enters the chamber and breaks the red crystal. I know that one was hallow and had some sort of red glitter or something, but close enough! :) This is about 24" long! I have a few of these if interested!

I made this one as well! This of course is the crystal staff as seen in Supermna The Movie! In the beginning when Jor-El judges the 3 villians! Based on what I got off the movie the length should be right, about 36" long, I got the top right, that way when you shine light form the bottom, it seems as if it is lit, just like in the movie! I have a few of these as well, if anyone interested!!

Wolverine claws, made out of bullit aluminum, beautifil piece, and real belt buckle, exactly as seen in the movie! Bought off of ebay years ago!!

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello all,

I'm pretty new to this prop replica/costuming thing. Okay, so by "pretty new" I really mean "haven't done any of this ever." :)

Went to Dragon*Con over Labor Day weekend for the first time, and I felt WAY out of place being one of the few people in normal clothes. Everything I saw that other people had done looked amazing, so I started thinking "I wanna do that."

Currently, I'm getting ideas and stuff together for a Spider-Man Noir outfit (closer to the comic source but with hints of the Shattered Dimensions video game tossed in) and getting stuff together for a Steampunk costume. Went Goodwill diving last night, and my wife found an awesome trenchcoat for her, and I found a toy gun I'm planning on re-painting in a Steampunk fashion. As my skills get better, I want to tackle an original series BSG cylon and a new series Viper pilot uniform as well. Found a resin kit for the Viper pilot gun, now I just need to learn how to paint it.

As far as books and movies, I'll read or watch most sci-fi/fantasy stuff. Right now, BSG, Stargate and Doctor Who are tops on the list.

Other hobbies include massive amounts of Xbox playing, teaching my 5 year old that certain words that dad says while playing those games aren't appropriate for school and keeping a small zoo of snakes, lizards, tarantulas and frogs. I also volunteer at the real local zoo. These are all funded by my "real job" of flying airplanes.

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello. Greetings from St. Pete, Florida.

My two kids are big Marvel fans. Rogue and Ms. Marvel for the 7 yr and all the Super Hero Squadies for the 3 year old. Cable has always been my favorite.

Going to dress up as a family for Halloween. Will post the Cap'n America costume later. I want to make my own shield eventually, and have one being shipped via email, but I did want the 3yr old to have his own. (Seemed kinda wierd having one and then keeping from him).

So my next post will be "How I made a Captain America shield for my 3yr old"

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Whats up everyone! Justin here from Edmonton Alberta Canada! I just got into making props. Right now Im making lightsaber hilt based on a pretty simple design, Im also making a clear display box for it.

I make my props just for my own collection and gifts. Unlike some of you I see, Im not picky on the exact details and being 1:1 from the movie. If I made it and it looks bad ass, that good enough for me!

My future projects after the lightsaber are - something from transformers (gift for my brother in law), Hell Boys Samaritan Gun and a Iron Man arc. After that I think Im going to take on the task of Captain America Shield!

Look forward to talking to you all and hope sharing some ideas!

TK4619 here . I was browsing these forums before I registered and I really think that there are a lot of creative people out there. I occasionally put together electronics for some of my fellow 501st members. I love to try new projects and think this is the place I can learn greatly from. I am currently putting together an ESB Vader for myself.

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Bonjour, guter Tag, Buen día and Hello everyone.

I am a big fan of making my own props/costumes. The fact that RPF exists is awesome for people like me. I currently am in the process of making a Green Ranger (MMPR) costume. I hope my experiences here is a good one. I doubt highly that I will be making any purchases on here based on the few threads I've read have dissuaded me from doing so.

On the other hand once I get the facility I plan on selling my own wears but making a limited run of probably 5 - 10 as to not get bogged down. But we won't have to worry about that for a long time(if ever).

As for costumes I've built : Inuyasha, Alucard(castelvania), Custom Mandalorian and as I said before Green Ranger is in the works.

I hope that any and all information I find here will be helpful :) not to mention making new friends.

that's all for now,
Shawn

Hi All,

I am not a hardcore prop builder, but I have done some Halloween costumes that could fall into that category. I have been Brak from Space Ghost and Dial "M" for Monkey. I need to dig up some pics of those.

I was drawn to the Replica Prop Forum because of TRON: Legacy. I want to try to put something together. So far, the thread for that one is awesome! So many people posting pics and resources that I have a better grasp on how to pull this off. Wish me luck and thanks to everyone for their help!

Hi all!

I'm not a replica prop builder, per se, but I have found a lot of great reference material on this site and use a lot of the same techniques on my projects -- so I figured I should join up!

I'm a puppeteer/cartoonist that drew a webcomic called Melonpool from 1996-2004. Concurrently with doing the webcomic, I began building puppet versions of my characters and eventually segued into puppet building and puppeteering. For the last couple of years, I've been working on a feature-length puppet movie, utilizing just about everything I've learned so far about fabrication, so I thought I'd post some of my work here.

Anyway, enjoy!

And finally, the real reason I was lurking around these forums -- an incidental character that will be in the film -- No-da, Yoda's black sheep brother that uses the "grey side of the force" to bet on horses and pick up women, among other things:

Great to be here!

My name is Jeff and live near the New Orleans area. Down here a good deal of us get into elaborate costumes and prop building. I have tried to get on here once before but memberships were closed I believe?

MADE IT!

Anyway, have done several higher end builds ......... Predator, Classic Cylon, Lord of the Rings Sauron and Darth Revan. OH .... and my version of a she Predator Machiko for my wife.

I hope to be able to learn a great deal more here and from what I have seen ......... I should have a blast here.

Thanks again for the acceptance!

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

'Ello.

I'm not a prop maker in the slightest...yet. Mostly I'm here because this is one of the VERY few places that can keep me up to date on Doctor who related props and replicas.

There is a question I will be asking later on, but obviously not now.

Thanks for having me.

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello, I m very happy to be part of this forum, I've been waiting some time before being able to register. I'm very impressed with all your work, I'm learning a lot with your creations and I hope I'll be able to give my contribution.

Will
