Hello - my interest is with Star Trek Props - my first conversion was a Playmates Science Tricorder using the GMProps boards about 4 years ago, I am working on my 2nd conversion
which is a Playmates Medical Tricorder using another GMProps set of Boards, I am always looking out for new items (Tricorders, Communicators, Phasers) to add into my collection.

Hi all!
Long time lurker, first time poster.
Until now, a good portion of my replica building has been in the historical realm. I've dabbled a bit in making clothing and garb from different periods, and learning ancient jewelry-making techniques.
I'm also a bit of a nerd. I'd say I was in to Lord of the Rings before it was cool, but dammit, it's always been cool. Star Wars has a special place in my geeky little heart and I've been known to pick up an MMORPG from time to time.
...which is what brought me here on a "I wanna read, post, learn, and contribute" basis. The new expansion of World of WarCraft has come out and I fell in love with the aesthetics of it. Everything has a beautifully primitive metal/furnace feel to it, and I decided I needed a set of Blackrock armor.
Watched some tutorials, bought some books, ( Bill Doran of Punished Props has an amazing bunch of tutorials) bought some EVA foam and a heat gun and here I am.
It's an honor to be among so many skilled and talented people, and I look forward to seeing your work!
Thank you!

Hello from Seattle, WA!

Like others, a long-time lurker, but with Emerald City Comicon and Shatterdome Seattle coming up, I'm trying to get some better costumes and props going. I've been rebuilding my 3D printer, so some of my prop designs are developing that way, but I'm thinking of building a cardboard Jaeger costume to do something with all of these moving boxes. :)

I used to work in DC in the non-fiction TV field (for Nat Geo, Discovery, History, etc.) doing editing, motion graphics, and some VFX, but now I've taken a slightly more stable day job doing video for a company in Seattle. At the moment, most of my fandom takes the form of The Optical podcast.

Anyway, looking forward to learning from you folks. Thanks!

Hello,

I love movie replicas. I'm working on some stuffs at home. I hope I will get a camera soon to show you.
Great to see what you are doing here.
See you soon !!!!!

Hi All,

Just wanted to introduce myself, new to cosplay decided to start making my own costumes instead of buying.

Hello!
I love costuming. I built a cardboard Master Chief mark 1 costume before I was taller than a grunt. It wasn't exceptional, but it got me into cosplay.

Since then I've done quite a few costumes, but not too many armor ones. It's been really fun, and I'm ready for a challenge. I knew of this site before, so I decided to join and try to learn as much as I can.

I'm not sure if anyone else has a dream costume, but I do. Someday I'm going to make the perfect Spider-Man costume. He's my favorite superhero, and I want that costume to be the best of all of my costumes. But, over the years I've always backed out of that one, because I feel like something in my design is missing. So, that dream will have to wait.

Right now I'm just working on a mascot for a team I'm on, but I still am doing my best to try to make it look perfect.

Hey everyone!
My names Monica, and I'm a 29 yr/o noob. I was recommended this site from a friend. My goal is to make a Darth Talon costume, if anyone has any tips please let me know! :p

Greetings, I have been building armor, weapons and props for several years now. I am currently trying to get my business "Way better Costumes" here in St. Helens, Oregon. I am a member of the 405th, looking to get into the 501st. Next personal project for my will be Warhammer 40k Space Marine armor.

Hi everyone! My name is Tony Santospirito. I'm building my first "89 Batman suit. I'm sure I'll be asking a lot of questions. I currently live in the Danbury, CT area. I'm 56 years old and a HUGE Batman fan. I look forward to hearing from anyone that can particularly assist me with mounting the cowl to the cape.

Hello! I am a long time lurker and now have turned member! I collect a lot of 1/6 scale figures and characters with some replica props sprinkled in between!

I love movies and series in generally, except on horror and thriller movies. I currently watch the Flash, arrow, gotham and greys anatomy.
My hobby is drawing.

I'm looking forward to get to know this page more and more

Hi from Trondheim in Norway.

I've been here for years, but not active. I hope this changes now. First of all, I will apologize for my bad English and my English grammar. It's been a while since I've written something in English. Just give me time, and I'll be better after a while.

I haven't made replica props or anything like that. In junior high school I almost failed the craft class, but I remember I had fun making things, even when the teachers said I was terrible at it.

I hope practice makes perfect. I'm not a perfectionist, but I see myself make first something terrible, and try again later and make something bit better each time.

Lately I haven't had much spare time to learn me this skills, due work and a lot of overtime. No I have said stop to work my self to death, and start enjoying my own spare time, and making this kind of things have I always wanted to.

Project I wanna work on over time, is;
1. The Mina anime figure in Densha Otoko TV-series.
2. Back to the future jacket
3. A briefcase, and artwork used in the BBC hustle Season 2 Episode 4 (used to switch forged artwork)

I can't sculpter, I can't sew, and I can't draw. This should be a lot of fun.

By way of formal introduction...

I'm a mechanical engineer who long ago built lots and lots of models and am now getting to a point that I may have more time to get back to them. I have quite a collection waiting to be started and finished. On top of that I have a ton of 3D model ideas that are just begging to become physical objects. I love history, especially the WWII, and Sci-Fi. Star Wars and Star Trek, yes, they get along just fine side by side on my display shelf.

As there are a lot of seriously talented folks on this site i hope my contributions are considered worthy. Thank you for the welcome.

hey everybody. im a long time viewer and short time member. i have always been interested in cosplay, but it wasnt until the last few months that i started to get more serious about it. there is a lot of great information on here and builds and i hope to share my own.

Hi folks.

I'm Max. I'm a hobbyist who got into prop-making by way of halloween costumes for kids. I spent more time on the props than the whole rest of the family on their costumes, and I realized I really liked this and wanted to get better at it. I've been reading therpf for a long time now, and only just decided to start posting.

I now do props for a lot of local theater companies and our whole family is cosplaying and doing armor.

Thanks for a lot of encouragement in getting a beginner started!

Hi Everyone,

I was trained in design and as a jeweler / small scale metalworker and worked at it for an all too brief time, but I have always made things and have always loved movies (raised on Star Wars!). I found RPF through Tested / Adam Savage. I've made a few metal props (one for a no budget indie film and really enjoyed it) so I would like to get back into making things more as a creative outlet away from my 9-5 job!

Looking forward to browsing through RPF and all of the great work and inspiration on the forum!

Hi Everyone

By day I am a 3D artist and designer, but by night I'm a masked crusader. I'm new to building my own body armour and am also a member of the RLSH. Most members of the RLSH tend to repurpose motocross body armour for their patrol armour. I'm taking a different route. I'm going to build the Arkham Knight armour, teach myself the techniques to make a normal set of replica armour and then I'm going build a real one from exotic materials. I will document my process.

I am really excited to be getting started with this and any advice anyone can offer for someone starting up would be greatly appreciated.

T3Kaos
